Ummmmmmm...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...uhhhhhhhh.....A SEMI?

Yeah. That's like getting excited over leftovers. That's why Optimus Prime is so dull.

Lets take a look at the constants within all the changes of Megs.

G1--Alt mode: Pistol      Trademarks: Arm cannon, hip cannon, Helmet

G2--Alt mode: Tank      Trademarks: Shoulder Cannon, helmet

Machine Wars--Alt mode: Jet  Trademarks: Helmet

Beast Wars: Alt Mode: Alligator  Trademarks: Hand gun, helmet

Beast Wars: Alt Mode: T-Rex  Trademarks: Arm Cannon, Helmet

..........the list goes on

so i'm seeing that they try for a cannon of some sort and his helmet face.

I see your point and can elaborate.

RiD--Alt Mode: Many      Trademarks: arm cannon(s)

Armada--Alt Mode: Tank    Trademarks: hip cannon

Energon--Alt Mode:Starfighter    Trademarks:arm cannon

From RiD on they also become Galvatron, which G1 Megs also did.

remember that RiD megatron was not originally intended to be Megatron, but Gigatron (and Devil Gigatron) - hence the lack of Megatron-esque trademarks like the Stackhat (bucket helmet) and BFG.

I agree that most Megatrons throughout G1, G2 & BW maintained the Stackhat & BFG trademarks of the original Megatron.

TM2 Megatron's BFG was capable of attacking with fire and ice, the basic elements of Hell.

Armada Megatron doesn't have a bucket helmet, but he does have a BFG. Energon Megatron also doesn't have a bucket helmet, but his robot mode is meant to be a tribute to G1 Galvatron rather than Megatron (EN Megatron's Super Link name is Galvatron)... and he has the BFG via his tank weapon, as well as two shoulder mounted plasma cannons. Cybertron Megatron/Galvatron has the bucket helmet, albeit with two horns in the front (but otherwise the helmet design is quite Stackhat-esque) - and in fact, it's more of a square bucket, which is more reminiscent of the original G1 Megatron toy IMO... he doesn't have a BFG though.  Reverse Convoy (who is supposed to be G1 Megatron himself) obviously has the bucket head and BFG.

As for alt modes, Optimus Prime is a Kenworth and Megatron is a Walther P-38.

AND works brilliantly! The hands can even hold the pegs.

I really liked Energon Megatron and Galvatron was just pefect.

Cybertron Megatron I am not too keen on and Galvatron seems odd. Sure the colors match G1 Megatron but he does not look anything like him and is called Galvatron.

As for Prime. I think it would be cool if they tried something different but I do not think he is becoming old or stale. There are plenty innovations with every Prime.

It was in the cartoon. :P
