Movie Bumblebee

I think a pacer would be cool.  I had a friend who had one in High School, it was pretty cool.

If I recall correctly, VW did not want to participate with the BT/ALT line, however, as I understood it they were interested in the movie.  How much of that statement is heresay and how much is fact I don't know, but I seem to recall it being mentioned previously.

If bay really does want to please both the fans and the masses I dont see how he doesnt give the nod and make it bumblebee for Spike. It just wouldnt make any sense not to??? What the hell does he have to lose I mean Bumblebee is pob in it anyways!...An older type clunker car? What older slightly clunkery type car would be so much cooler than the VW could take its place were not talking oldschool hotrods or classics here. And as for VW not giving them the licensing yeah maybe not to hasbro at the time but you swear when the Hollywood money comes knocking theyr not gonna answer!

Dude, I wish there was a Spike character in this movie. Mentioned before, the lead human is named Sam, i know most of you have seen this on TFormers or somewhere else, a list of characters that need to be auditioned for. most of the names reminded me of the cornyness of the IDW comics, namewise not art of course. Bumblebee has to be a beetle, it just makes sense that way. Vw has to get over it and realise that hasbro is not making a hitler-bot, but a yellow robot. Jeez.

One thing to consider:

Movie "product placement" type of licenses tend to go to only a single manufactuer - so if there are obviously recognizable name brand cars in the movie, they'll all be from the same maker.  Think about it, when was the last time you saw more than one car maker featured in a movie?

(Don Murphy once mentioned something that addressed this on his board, but it went almost unnoticed due to the silly size-changing arguements, etc. that normally plague that place.)

but isn't it the company that usualy pays the studio for placement?  i.e. cadillac paid for their car to be used in the big chase in the matrix.  at least thats what i would have thought, i dunno why, if they wanted a kick ass looking car, they'd automaticaly beg caddi for rights.  i'd think that with this movie hasbro and the studio would want a varity of cars and brands, i realy hope we don't get stuck with one manufacturer.

we don't know official names, movies are usualy assigned a working name as are the characters in the movie to keep information about the movie under wraps.  LaBoufs character might be names spike after all, we just don't know.

i agree with you about Vw's whinning.  WWII happened a LONG time ago, and i HIGHly doubt that anybody would automaticly say vw is advocating war just because they give lisence to a toy manufacturer to make a fighting robot, even if it is a decepticon.

I Robot did the same thing, one giant Audi and converse..or was it Reebok commercial.

Actually we do, sorta.

Don Murphy himself has called him both Spike and Sam, and it appears that Sam is for realism, Spike is a nickname as a nod to stop the show fans whining.

just as long as he is yellow.
