Review - Alternators Optimus Prime

Recommended Posts

I really hope the group consensus is wrong on this one; otherwise we're all in for a very poorly spent $20.

I think the key disappointment with Prime is that we've seen enough fan-made concepts for what Prime could look like as a pickup truck, and to see the official bot seem so inferior by comparison is a tremendous letdown.

Time will tell, but I don't remember feeling so underwhelmed in anticipating a new mold's release at any time in the rest of the line.

I'd just like to remind everyone these are children's toys before everyone gets worked up...aww. Too late.

And, as with every previous Alternator complained about, people will buy and generally accept this mold in a few months just like every other.

That's too simplistic a view now. it was true last year, but not after botcon. I'd say it's nearly 50-50% on who the toys are aimed for.

and calling Alternators kids toys is just Powerglideing stupid.

Crap! I'm gonna hafta agree on the Alts no really being for small kids. I know some kids out there have patience and are smart. But Alt are very fricken complicated.

I was listening to two women in Target one day in the toy section. One lady goes, "Hey! Transformers! We can get some of these you think?" Other lady, "Gawd! I bought the Mustang last year.............*sighs* That didn't go well. That thing had over 50 steps to transform him" Usually at this point, I'd sugguest the less complicated toys to people when I hear stuff like this but I was too busy laughing cause Grimlock is a Beast to transform.

I know All kids aren't the same but going off my kids, I know I will never buy them Alts. "Can you transform this for me daddy?" Me, "ARRRRRRRGH! Look you wanted it figure it out. It's a puzzle" Kid, "*Sobbing*" Wife, " Transform the damn toy!!" Me, " Ragafragin' *grumble grumble* *Transforms toy*"

2 minutes later. Kid, "Can you make him a robot again" Me, "WTF!!!!!"

Agreed. :thumb

There are a lot of non-Alternators Transformers that my kids have had a hard time with... just to throw that out there

And as far as I know, the Alternators boxes still say "ages 5 and up"... and I do believe the comment from the guy at Takara who designed these was that they were intended to be toys "that adults could appreciate as well."

of course, he said it in Japanese, but you get the idea.

Anyway, I wonder how much of this angst is driven by "I'm going to end up getting this anyway because I have no willpower"-type self-hatred.

Not to get too Freudian on anyone or anything...

I strongly agree that Alternators are not kids' toys no matter what it says on the box, saying the toys are aimed 50/50 at adults and kids, on the other hand? No. Maybe 80/20, kids and adults respectively.

I love this fandom. Disregarding actual evidence in favor of your own unfounded assumptions and beliefs PWNS.

:tflaugh indeed.  I mean the box also says that these are transformers alternators, but i'm pretty sure they are my little pony gift sets.

was that directed to my statement aobut alternators not being for kids, or my statement about the new shift in who transformers are aimed at? I don't know whether to argue my point or not. :tflaugh

edit: redid the first sentence.
