Hey all! Sorry for the long away time, I've been having tons o fun with papers and also been doing work over at our affiliate site Game News International

 

Anyhow I got my Alt. Prime from BBTS a few days ago and after the intial anger over this figure, I finally calmed down enough to write a *hopefully* objective review:

Very nice and objective review. I am impressed that you took time to cool off and wanted to be fair, that says a lot.

 

I think that what you said does clear up a few things that people have been speculating about and even a few that others w/ the figure have said.

 

Good job weighing the pros and cons of Prime and delivering a thoughtful, informative and unbiased review.

 

(Oh and I love The Shield. I am just pissed that now we have to wait until Jan to see it again, dammit)

Although you did a great job and I am going to buy the silly thing regardless...

Its kinda funny in the end though isn't it.  ALOT of people hate this figure for alot of reasons. one of the top reasons is that he is optimus prime rather than trailbreaker, not to mention he is kibble-icious.  Whats funny is that with all the hate, alot of us will end up owning this toy in the end, even though it has been flamed time and again.  Some people will buy him because they are competists, some will buy because he is optimus prime, some will buy because he is the biggest alternator, and he is the first truck.  I know I don't like him, but I admit, I'll be searching the stores as soon as he is announced in Canada.

Since Chevy sells the Trailblazer, Trailbreaker wasn't possible (unless he was a Chevy) - this is also  probably the reason Hasbro couldn't sell Spychanger Ironhide or Cybertron Overhaul as Trailbreaker, either (and both were obviously supposed to be "Trailbreakers" - the Spychanger has Trailbreaker's paint-job and Overhaul's up-grade is Leobreaker).

 

I'm guessing that the Ram would have been Ironhide.

I would accept "Overhaul" as the character's name.

Works just as well as "Decepticharge"

 

Although i am sure people would scream bloody murder over an Alt being named a Cybertron Character.

 

My Question to those that have Alt-Prime - would you be more satisfied with the figure if it WAS Ironhide or TrailBreaker/Overhaul?

Nice review man. :)  I really wasn't digging the figure from the first time I saw him.....though I really like the alt mode a lot, but it's not enough to save this transformer from a fail grade (at least not for me).....and well your review only me happy I didn't have high hopes for him in the first place. :P
