Meh, Starscreaming about Alternators doesn't appeal to me, so I'm hardly sympathetic to this review.

Maybe for people who just can't stop by Cybertron toys, an Alternator Optimus Prime might not be worth the money. To an Alternator completeist like me, it is.

What's so Ass about him Hot Rod, that's not ass about the other Alts?

Well obviously I'm not Hot rod, but I'm gonna answer anyway.

I'm not attacking your photography, but Prime still looks like crap.

He looks better than in many pics, but still not enough for me to like him.

Which leads me to the main problem.

You can, through a mixture of angles, lighting and various other things make almost any woman look superficially attractive; even if only for one pic, even if it's someone you wouldn't normally find attractive.

If all you're interested in is the picture, the illusion, that's great; but if you want more, if you're expecting the image come to life, you're headed for dissapointment.

People are posing Prime, they're trying different angles to make it look good and eventually someone will succeed.

But if Prime was a decent enough figure, he wouldn't need all that effort.

Unless we want statues we view only from one angle, he's bound to be a dissapointment.

And no, he's not the only Alt to have this problem but he easily is the worst, he has all the cons of the Alt line and too few redeeming points to outweigh them, which is only highlighted more by the fact that he is then given the name of the most popular and well known character, which just heightens expectations and sharpens the scrutiny.

The bottom line is that other Alts have things going for them that counterbalance the faults.

Alt Grimlock has a lot of kibble, his flat panel midriff can look poor from a couple of angles but there are far more angles he looks good from and is a very powerful dominating figure that commands attention.

Skids has a lot of kibble, but has the nostalgia factor, and so on.

So far the best things I've heard about Alt Prime (aside from his gun and head mold) is that he can look okay if you spend long enough positioning him to hide his flaws and that he is no uglier than a toy designed some 20 odd years ago.

That's hardly the best you'd expect from such a cutting edge line.

And then there's those of us who bought into a line that sold itself on it's technical and visual excellence only to be given a spy changer that somehow manages to have more kibble.

We will Starscream because we actually would prefer to be given something worth our money.

Very very well put and eloquently said.

In Person, he looks good from any angle. Most people have this impression that he's this stiff no posability havin' pile of kibble. I was using my photo to try to prove that wrong. Now I just give up. if you like em, you like em. If you dont, you dont. I'm happy.  :clap

bring on mirage. hopefully he should make it better again (i just hope the uk gets him rather that Prime)

ZOMG WHAT A RIPOFF AT $20

BTW I remember when people called Alt Prowl a "spychanger"... quite the insightful observation (they both have flip hoods!! :eek). And BTW I see a lot more positive than negative comments about Prowl nowadays...

the difference is when people got prowl people found they thought he was awesome. that hasn't happened with prime

*stays with his opinion that Alt Prime SUX!!!!*
