Hasbro Primus Extra Unveiled.

Recommended Posts

It should have a Quintesson ship sticking out of its left eye JMO

That would make it cooler.

I wasn't sold on Primus before this was announced.

And I'm still not sold on him. If I do get him, it'll just be to put next to Unicron.

Oh ok... so what topic are we on? Oh that's right, I think the head looks cool, but it isn't enough to make me cancel my preorder or buy another version of Primus

(that better?  :tfgrin )

If I saw the head in a hobby shop, I would probably drop a few buck for it for the sake of nostalgia. But it isn't enough for me to wait! (Hurry up pre-order!)

One thing I love about Supreme figs is, you dont have to rush out and hunt. Just sit back and relax til you here of sightings. Then you know they'll be a mountain of em just sit on the shelf begging and pleading for you to buy em worse than those Cabbage patch Orphins.

I wonder... the scalpers might want to buy up all the Unicron head ones for their "PRIMUS W/ UNICRON HEAD RARE L@@K!!" auctions with a BIN price of $150.

Very true - I see a ton of price cut King Starscreams on the shelves.

I think Cybertron Primus will look cool in a "Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio." inspired pose.

Unicron's....head...... :redface ghey ghey ghey GHEY!!!

"Make mine Hasbro".... if you like half assed attempts at maximized profits at lowest cost.

Maximized profits and lowest cost.... you mean a SUSTAINABLE franchise? Takara tanked on CR. Takara would not have released Micron Legend, Superlink, or Galaxy Force if not for Hasbro's pocket book.

Half assed? Like not releasing Armbullet, Blender, and Moledive as well as several other non-show toys?

Takara have consistantly made money on transformers, it was Takaras forray into electronic ventures that bit them on the ass.

Not releasing the toys you mention are most likely down to the merger and finance diversification.

Oh and if the Unicron head transformed, that would have been cool IMO

There's a difference between "making money" and "making good money" though... and please note I'm talking about MAIN LINE TFs, not reissues, etc.... did CR "make money", I don't have figures, and I doubt you do either, but from all I've heard it didn't. "Making money" vs. "making good money": did they really make a substantial profit? Or just eek out a bit more than costs?

Not releasing toys due to the merger? These are toys that should have been released last August or September so I don't buy that.... but even if it is true, isn't the merger also a result of Takara's somewhat poor financial performance?

Bottom line is, from all we know, Hasbro's been healthy, Takara not so much. Thus while it's certainly easy to argue about your taste for repaints, it should not be much of an issue that Hasbro's practices are good for business.

I really dont have the time or the inclination to go into the potential ramifications, power struggles and bizzare business decision that occur withing merging companies purely due to individuals trying to mark territories but will advise you to take a look at the financial reports of the company to get some real black and white answers. Takaras financial predicament was down entirely due to their over diversification into electronics and had NOTHING to do with the transformers segment of the business.

Transformers have been a cornerstone of Takara since G1 which is why pre-merger and post-financial difficulties their business plan was to go back to their core market which happened to be transformers for the main part, they made a substancial amount of money in real business terms from Car Robots. People always seem to think Takara do poorly out of transformers and we always hear the crap that BTs dont sell well when the opposite is true. I deal in facts not hearsay.

*likes the Primus figure*

*likes the unicron head*

*likes the cheaper non-import pricetag*

*likes being able to drive up to the store and buy it*

*doesn't feel screwed*
