What's with all the "Jetfire"? I don't see him as essential. Hell, I'd pick Omega Supreme before Jetfire/Skyfire. Not that I'm knocking your opinions. :P I'm just wondering why he would be as important.

I look at my list and realized that the Autobots don't have as many cold and rational characters as the Decepticons. Jetfire and Perceptor are the cool and scientific types, making me seeing them as a good counterbalance for the likes such as Shockwave, Soundwave, Scrapper, Hook, and Mixmaster.

Grimlock is an essential character but if you were to unlcude him, you would have to include all the Dinobots. Having only 7 main cast members is good to develop the characters better but people will be upset if their favorite character does not make it into the movie.

decepticons- megs, starsream, skywarp, thundercracker, shockwave, soundwave, lazerbeak

Autobots- Prime, Prowl, Ironhide, Ratchet, Arcee, Hot Rod and Sideswipe, cant see Bumblebee being included, after all the hastle over the alternators/BT line cant see Volkswagen letting the beetle be used for the movie,

Decepticons- Megatron, Soundwave, Ravage, Starscream, Skywarp, Thundercracker and probably another cassette, although that'll be one of the most intersting things to see, how the writers are dealing with the updated forms of the cassettes ( if they use any ).

That's it.

i'd say that the only essental tf's are Prime and Starscream as they are the only two homages to G1 characters that are featured prominently in the new series. Megatron doesn't count because his modern incarnations don't look anything like him. at most, G1 Galvatron was given two homages in Energon(toy and animation version) and C-Galvatron has the same colors as G1 Megs but that's it.

He's like the best Autobot-character wish IMO. He was built a Decepticon, but was absent during the up-rising, and when he was revieved he joined the Autobots. That's like if Captain America joined the Commies when he was de-thawed.
