I'm pretty sure in Simon Furman's Ultimate Guide to Transformers book it says that in the beginning he was just an essence which attracted space rubble (meteors etc.) to build a body. Then he grew in strenght by devouring worlds (i dont think it mentioned size though)

According to the G1 Marvel comics, both Primus and Unicron could change into various different states of matter (loosely speaking). When they entered our universe, they were in their energy forms and through deception, Primus was able to trap Unicron into an asteroid - as well as himself. These asteroids would later be rebuilt into Cybertron and Unicron's iconic body. The Starship Dimensions web site states that Unicron's sizes from the movie alone are quoted from being anywhere from being 1000-3000km in diameter. As this site's author states, the movie was very liberal and inconsistent with Unicron's size and scale, so it's difficult to accurately determine one for sure. Because Unicron's body was created from an asteroid - and as the Starship Dimensions site states, even in the cartoon, the Transformers seem to inhabit asteroids rather than planets, one of our largest known asteroids is Ceres, which measures approximately 1000km in diameter, hence the author has chosen 1000km to be the "official" diameter of Unicron. But at a maximum diameter of 3000km, that would make Unicron about the same size as our moon.

As far as I'm concerned, the BotCon comics are only official if the writers consulted with the BW or BM writers and got their okay prior to creating the comics. Because imposing a new story upon a pre-existing one is the very definition of retcon. Which anyone could do (as we've seen).

Well, "Primevil Dawn" that the page that X-BoB58 posted a page for, with the Vok and all....

You do know that had this going for it:    "Writer - Bob Forward"

:thumb

Also, as far as TM2 megs not being a TM2 in tech specs...

Lets look to Cryotek..

Exclusive content,  Based on Hasbro's unreleased bio & tech-specs for this character

PREDACON: Cryotek

FUNCTION: Criminal Overlord

"War is good for business or pleasure."

Profile: Cryotek is one of the most deadly and mysterious figures in the history of Cybertron's criminal underworld. Though he was once considered one of the planet's most gifted engineers, Cryotek became increasingly dissatisfied with the actions of the Predacon ruling class - leaders who he felt had too quickly abandoned the classical Decepticon philosophies of conquest and deceit. Relying on the more illicit opportunities available to a being of his considerable skills and intellect, Cryotek eventually became one of the most dangerous outlaws on Cybertron - one more than willing to apply his scientific talents to the less-than-noble pursuits of extortion, theft, and criminal mayhem. Cryotek's logical mind and pragmatic bent have made him an extremely successful gangster, one who approaches each new "business venture" with the discipline of a trained researcher. Nevertheless, Cryotek does find the time to take great pleasure in his work.

The ingenious malefactor behind the theft of the legendary Golden Disc and one of Megatron's earliest mentors, Cryotek was eventually betrayed by this former pupil as Megatron fled Cybertron to pursue his fortunes on prehistoric Earth. Upon Megatron's return, Cryotek struck up a bargain with his old student, willingly "assisting" Megatron with the elimination of his hated beast form - or at least those elements that Cryotek could most readily exploit! Unprepared for the painful metamorphosis involved in assuming Megatron's Transmetal II body, Cryotek was sent into temporary stasis lock, allowing his research and development operations to fall into Megatron's waiting hands. Left betrayed both by his former protg and his own pursuit of power, Cryotek recovered only in time to see his empire - and Cybertron - fall completely to Megatron's sinister designs.

Abilities: Aside from his impressive intellect and scientific acumen, Cryotek is armed with a variety of deadly weapons in both beast and robot forms. In either mode, Cryotek is capable of firing supercooled blasts of ammonia from the hoarfrost projector mounted in his dragon head; Cryotek's precise control over this weapon allows him to freeze or desiccate nearly any object in its path. Cryotek's deadly jaws are also capable of firing two independently targetable plasma torpedoes, each with an effective range of several hundred miles. His deadliest weapon, perhaps, is based on one of his most prized inventions - the Spark extractor - and is mounted on the tail of his beast form. Swooping through battle like an icy demon, Cryotek will often set down on one of his enemies, armored claws bared, only to rend a still pulsing Spark violently from their body - leaving his Targetmaster protg, Chro, to pick at their remains. Although intelligent and logical to the extreme, Cryotek is still an extremely vicious fighter.

Weaknesses: Cryotek has no serious physical weaknesses, most explicitly due to the enhancements he has made to his already impressive Transmetal II superstructure. Should his carefully laid plans be foiled, Cryotek can be sent into intense periods of isolation and malaise - though his plans are not often foiled.

And 2 other things. One from page one.

Convobat and Megalligator are not the same characters as the USA bat "Optimus Prime" or gator "Megatron"

Takara released those over there, these were special recolors that were different characters and WERE G1 Prime and G1 Meggy.

Also, the "third mode" that X-BoB58 mentioned for Tigerhawk isnt his "attack mode" but he is referencing the intermediate vehical mode which the instructions leave out. Know those wheels on his back? Thats cause you flip him over and he becomes a tank. (and that little spark chamber is his cockpit)

Either is was left out by accident in the instructions, or Hasbro aborted this idea at the last stage.. we arnt sure. Much like the pilot seat in the spark chamber that he and Meggy had.. remements of last min aborted concepts. In that case, there was going to be a little figure that went in there, that was a personification of their sparks. But Hasbro decided not to do this at the last min.

(This all was answered by Hasbro reps)

I guess I just don't see it that way... if Megatron had been "influenced" by the TM2 driver, why didn't it just happen when he was futzing around with it? The obvious catalyst for his metamorphosis in the context of the show was the merging of his spark with that of G1 Megatron (plus some lava for metaphorical effect, apparently). Anyway it's not like they weren't gonna refer to TM2 Megatron as a TM2 since that's how they marketed him.

because that's all ti was, an influence. it didn't take effect because he wasn't directly touched by it's energies and Blot, like Cheetor, BA and Dinobot were.

when the change(Menapause'd?) happened, that's when it was able to take effect.

at least, that's how i've seen it since i was 12.
