G1 question

Recommended Posts

I know that there is a S.T.A.R.S. cardboard base, but was there another one out in the 80's?  I remember having one that was two stories (still cardboard) with a ramp and a yellow grid pattern on the floors and walls similar to teh g1 boxes.  I've looked high and low and can not find this other mystery TF base.

umm... nope.

The only variant of the STARS base I know of is the one advertised on the back of the UK Marvel comics which shows the standard STARS base, but with a floor! A floor!!

When I was a kid, I had one of those study desks that had a world map on it, and my STARS base sat on that... so the floor of my STARS base would be like... the Indian Ocean or something. Bleh. ;p

If I remember right, there was a Japanese S.T.A.R.S. playset that differed just a bit from our American mail ordered version. It would be cool to see a pic of this "mystery base" that you refer to.

I think the base you're talking about is this one:

That jsut seems like less a Transformer base and more a GI Joe base.  I bet if you replaced the Autobot symbol with a cobra symbol no one would even have noticed.

Looks cool though.

Holy crap, I don't remember every seeing that before... ever! (maybe it was never released in Australia, or maybe I'm just unlucky).

But holy cow! I want one!! (but not sure if I'd fork out more than ten bucks for it)

I don't think that would have lasted if i had one since I have 3 younger brothers.

Is it just me or does that kid have a "mmmeeeehhh" look on his face? He doesn't seem very interested in what was the hottest toy at the time...

Yea, that's the one I was gonna rant about.  I have one in the box somewhere in storage.  Kinda rare.

There was someone who made a remake of the STARS command center and mounted ot to metal, I wonder if they can do the same with this set somehow.

I never built mine.

there were a few display stands from them.  A weird little shelf, might have been another base like the one shown, and the puzzles, both normal flat ones based on the original back of the box G1 art and the transformable robot ones.

Where'd that picture come from?  one of the Unofficial guides to TF's?
