always around xmas. i had people try and use fake credit cards in my computer store and he hit the jewelers and other big electronic stores. my gf got ripped off by this guy running a tshirt business and got screwed out of a cool skeletor tshirt http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...turejunkie&iid=

You don't have to go very far to find scammers and jerks like that. The store (Canadian Tire) where my fiancée works is stolen all the time and my fiancée's bike got stolen on xmas day.

hmm stole at least $22000 in just over a week

Interesting, as the seller seemed legit (at least from the feedbacks) and then all of a sudden pulled this stunt...

Wow.

Reminds me of this guy I used to buy model race cars from in Europe.  He was around for years and great to deal with (and had a great selection of obscure items), until one day he simply disappeared after accepting payment for hundreds of auctions (he normally ran this many it didn't seem like he was boosting the number to abnormal levels). I didn't get ripped off but had INTERNET buddies who did - I always wondered if maybe the dude just died in a car accident or something.

Would he still be sentenced to life on fraud charges?

I bet they're dead or in the hospital. Either way they're dead if all those folks go after them!

Oh, I read through some comments and this one made the most sense.

"If ebay can only allow a certain amount of emails through my messages per day, they should be able to see when someone goes from 450 auctions a year to more than 1050 in a two week time frame. This was suspicious activity and he should have been red flagged immediately, not after hundreds of thousands of dollars have been lost by innocent parties that bid on his auctions because he was "an ebay power seller", who had such wonderful feedback. Change your policy and help us with this situation."
