Continuing on my trend of unpopular reviews. I will again be using the Bell Curve system of scoring. Under this, your average toy will get between a four and a six. A great toy could get an 8 (and would be better than nearly 80 percent of the available toys). Only a perfect toy could get a 10 (better than 100 percent).

Recap: 1=Worst transformer imaginable 2=utter crap, hard to believe it passed marketing 3=a turd with some good points 4=below average but still okay 5=average tf with its ups and downs 6=above average, definitely a good buy 7=a great toy 8=One of the best along all points, most Alternators are in this category 9=the kind of toy that would start you collecting again, less than five toys in a decade would get this score, 10=dead on balls perfect,i.e. doesn't exist

After a couple more reviews in this format, hopefully I can scrap this preface.

Helicopter: Hey, these colours sure look better on an Autobot as opposed to Megatron. That aside, I like the colours. They are different and just the right shades so as to not offend the eye which mixing blue, orange, and white tend to do. I personally would like to see a little more white. I'm not suggesting making it a dominant colour, just a little more to even it all out. Maybe on the nose of the heli. He's definitely shaped like a rescue helicopter, and the addition of the winch really adds a nice touch. The play features are actually pretty cool. The usual button to spin the blades, the pull out winch that snaps back into place with the push of a button. and the nacelles which flip fprward into guns with the key all make for a great bevy of features that don't really get in the way of things or feel like forced gimmicks. Unfortunately I have one major, major gripe. Was there really no way to hide the huge gaping holes in the craft at this size. Ths was my major complaint with Mudflap's vehicle mode as well. I f you look at it even casually from the side, not only can you see straight through its center mass, but you can make out the chest, pelvis and thighs very easily. A few well placed flip up panels could have made this vehicle the bees knees. It has a good design, good detail, pretty good paint, and fun features.                          Score=6

This actually a Lve Convoy, but the difference is negligible.

Transformation: First fold up all four of the trusty landing gear. Dislodge the cockpit from the top, then pull the whole assembly downward and back, clicking the pelvis into place. Extend the legs and pull them apart. Fold out the feet and heels, then spin the waist. The rear landing gear can be folded up at an angle or flattened to his thighs, whatever your preference. Next, seperate the tail and fold both halves outwards. Kudos to them for thinking of something new to do with this usually akward part of the copter. There are hinges to fold the halves downward, but I like them better out. Again, its nice to have options. Pull up on the engine/gun section and it will bring the head up on its little elevator. The same section will now fold flat to his back. Seperate the two arms and they will easily conform to their desired spots without much fidgeting and twisting. Open the little panels to bring out his fists, then reposition the winch and spin the rotor setup around and you're done. A good transformation. Its as complicated as I feel a voyager should be, and the new mode shows a lot of new details that were previously hidden (well, almost hidden  :redface ). Most of the kibble isn't unsightly and actually aids the overall appearance. If you turn the legs outwards slightly, it immediately helps the look of his gigantic ankles. A fine transform that could have again been better with the addition of a few panels to cover the gaps along the way.                                                              Score=7

Robot: Other than the cankles, I'm almost completely content with the robot mode. I would like to be able to take off the winch and rotor sections. I'm not saying that they look bad, I'd just like the option. I'm also sad to say that there isn't a satisfying way to make the guns on his back face forward. That is a shame. Otherwise, he has all of the articulation that you would expect him to have minus a ball-jointed neck (don't need that joint personally but some do). He is that delightful and difficult to accomplish mix of bulky and sleek. He has great detail, good Autobot colours ( there is a new addition of a small patch of white on his abdomen--see what I mean about just a tiny bit more white pulling it all together) and a great head sculpt. Oh, there is some wierd litle detail that is cut in half by where the orange waist meeting the blur part. That bugs me. Sorry I was feeling too positive so I had to end on something petty.            Score=8

Overall= i highly recommend this guy. I was hesitant about the colours at first, but I instantly liked him the moment he was in my hands.  He is definitely among the best in this line and is worthy of his gold rimmed key.  Score=7

Oh, and for those who care-----Key=v49u

Ooh, I'll definitely be picking this guy up when I find him.

I forget, though, what was your review of Leobreaker? I have to say, I was hesitant to get him, but then picked him up after seeing a photogallery, and now I love him. He just has a certain uniqueness that I find refreshing, even if he's not all that he could be.

That, and I dig the Wolverine claws! WOOT!

I like your review and rating method/scale, though I don't agree with your ratings some of the times.  Anyways, I think this is a great toy.  Didn't really like it after seeing pics of it, but love him now that I have him.

"cankles" :tflaugh

i love your reviews, very consice and indepth.

i just cant get past those colors... doesnt mean i wont buy it tho.

Does he have dual knee joints? So you can point his feet away from each other.

single knee joint. but he's got 90 degree range to them. Its a bit stiff compared to other copters like Bulkhead but he's really nice!

I'm not exactly sure what you mean here.  Double-jointed knees is a now, but he has the thigh swivel that I think you're asking for.

The only articulation he lacks that I could possibly ask for is a ball-jointed neck, wrists, and forwards/back shoulder curls (which isn't a big deal, since there are very few TFs that have that articulation point, anyways.  In recent memory, only TM2 Scourge has both, GF Soundwave has only one, in his right shoulder).  He's got everything else.  Universal shoulders and hips, bicep swivels, elbows, thigh swivels, knees, heels, toes, neck, and waist.  Not to mention the folding tail wings, for flight or idle modes.

Great review. I will be picking this one up once I see it.

Thanks.

(Oh and I agree w/ Optimus3000 about Leobreaker.

He just has a certain uniqueness that I find refreshing, even if he's not all that he could be.

Not too great of a toy (ie bad articulation, easy transformation), but the look he has make him pretty kickass overall)
