Instead of complaining about something silly like the noise these cars make, perhaps you instead ought to be complaining about all the morons these days who just must have a giant Hummer or Escalade that burns gas at a rate of 4 miles to the gallon! :tfmad

Isn't it just SO nice to know that with these idiots sucking up all the oil reserves that you're ALL going to have to be driving electric automobiles within the next 20 years? Where's your revving engine sounds going to be then? It'll all be quiet cars swishing down the highway instead.

The nice benefit for those of who who live near the highway will be less noise, and, well, if you're a music lover you've be able to hear what you're listening to properly in your car, instead of cranking it up so high that your ears bleed just so you can hear it over your engine. :thumb

good point :D

So long as the Civic is an Si, the coupe isnt as performance oriented and sedans just blow.

As to caring more about looking good than going fast, I say if you cant do both equally, you failed. I dont care how you do it. V-8, and rear drive, or 4 cyl, turbo and AWD, so long as it screams AND looks the part.

Thats my biggest beef with the WRX and EVO. Sure theyre quick, but like all other sedans, look like bread boxes that only nerdy middle mangagement banker types would drive. Not only do they look cool, but properly set up, that new Mustang, the last-gen Supra, the new 350Z, etc would spank those tin family cars into oblivion. I know they have their fans, but the idea that a performance oriented car offered ONLY as a sedan is going to be the downfall of all sports cars. Had Mitsu and Subaru offered these both as a radical-looking 2-door (something like the Celica or 350Z) for the purists, and a toned down 4-door for those busnessmen and daddies who like a little performance on the way to the PTA meeting, theyd get more respect and sell more cars. Taking the cheap-o approach and stuffing rally car guts into econo car bodies and telling the consumer its cool isnt the way to go. I say offer it both ways and let us make the choice.

By the way, wasnt this supposed to be about whether we liked the idea of a Civic Alternator?

fyi, subaru used to sell coupes in 2000 and in 2001.

when the wrx was released, they decided to go the sedan way cause of sales.

The sedan sold more than the coupe for some odd reason here in the US.

But i belive in japan the coupe is still sold.

As for mitsu...i dont know whats up with them.

i thought this was a tf forum.... not a car bashing forum.

Where is the love? Bring any car as an alternator and we all know the majority of us will buy it.

How bout a bike alternator?

Civic could be Bumble Bee, after all they are the same kind of car really, GLCs haha.

What they should do is think logically; The original G1 Autobots took the forms of cars that not only fit their personalities and functions, but also gave them a good deal of disguise to the humans around them. In the case of the later Autobots, they took alt modes that suited them, since disguise wasn't a vital part of the mix anymore. I would say it depends on the era of G1 that you are aiming for: for early G1 and such, vehicles one would see everyday. For later G1, anthing would be suitable. Its just my opinion, but I would tend to think that something too flashy or alien would attract all the wrong kinds of human attention, not to mention be a dead giveaway to decepticons in early G1.

My thoughts exactly.

They sold coupes form day1 of the Impreza's release, sometime in the early 90's. And as to selling more sedans than coupes, well yes and no. In terms of the basic impreza, they certainly did sell more sedans. BUT, as to the 2.5 RS, I know for a fact they offered it both ways, but I've never seen a 2.5 sedan exept in a sales brochure. And Id say that Ive seen hundreds of 2.5 coupes and maybe 10 basic 2.2 coupes. When I lived in Oregon, that 2.5 coupe was a VERY common sight. And the guys that owned them hooked them up tight too, not some gaudy image-only stickermobiles. I knew a guy who was active in SCCA with his 2.5, from what he told me he was very competitive. The car looked tight, he had it tricked for style too, but most of his time and money were under the hood and in the suspension.

My problem with the WRX and EVO isnt the sedan itself, but the fact that Subaru and Mitsu made the choice of bodystyles for us, instead of building both and letting us make the call. I suspect that many Impreza coupe owners are like vultures outside the salvage yards waiting for a scragged WRX to come in so they can nab that engine!

This is WAY true. Which is why I was so baffled that they made Smokescreen and Silverstreak into sedans. Moreso Bluestreak, but both these guys were more or less younger, rebellious types. The Z car was pretty well suited to them. I always thought Swindle's alt mode was a bizarre choice considering what kind of guy he is. If anyone should be some kind of sedan say, a BMW 750 or something, its Swindle. Thats the kind of treads owned by smooth talking busnessmen, not Jeeps.
