Through out the Alternators and BT toy lines, Hasbro and Takara has made several different decisions. First off, Alternators are cheaper, all plastic, unpainted(for the most part), includes no bio card or booklet and they're called Alternators. Next we have things like Hasbro Making Tracks blue, calling Overdrive, Windcharger, no 2004 Smokescreen(thank godness) and to top it off we have Swerve and Decepticharge. 2 decision Takara must really dont like.

 

My point is, We have Swerve. An old mold, recolored and given a new head. Not saying it's not cool, but the way Hasbro is putting it, they make it seem like they had no choice but to make the Ram Prime. Seems like to me, they could have let Takara have their Convoy, grab the mold, dye it black and slap a Trailbreaker head on it. I think they made him Prime too because of us. The wakko, but money given up Fans. They knew that if Takara was gonna have this bot be Convoy we'd all be outraged that Hasbro chose other wise. Here's What I see. Every one would be Starscreaming, Why not Ironhide?  just like the with Skids. Then they'd except it seeings how the mold fits Trailbreaker/ Hoist. But as soon as Takara would have shown a Convoy Dodge Ram, every one would have been pissed that Hasbro didn't do it. Then they'd be all, "This mold does fit Prime better. Look, it even looks like Prime! Look at those legs. They scream Prime!"

 

Hasbro didn't wanna lose any of that sweet Sweet cash,  the name Optimus Prime will bring in.

Alternators "Prime" will make for some cool kitbashes . . . :)

I was originally all for Skids opposed to Ironhide.

 

On topic. Takara has another Optimus Prime for the fans in Japan, so I hope Hasbro will consider retooling this mold into Ironhide further down the road. Doubt it will happen though since both would have to be red and tat would suck to have to identacally painted alts. Considering it's a Ram maybe they'll paint it in blue with the white Shelby racing stripes and call em Soundwave. I'd be all for that. :thumb

How about a the repaint as a Con so that there isn't another Bot to rival Prime in height much like the first year on the show. Motormaster would be a great repaint IMO.

What i really like  about TFans is that by the time this guy hits the Shelves we will have a good idea of what his repaint will be...

 

Anyway - i really would liek him as an Ironhide or a Trailbreaker - but i am happy with the mold itself... so no complaints here

I agree. I'm really looking forward to Prime. I do hope to see some more 'Cons in the line though. Some original molds would be great, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
