As cool as Ironhide is, This mold is the exact same shape as Trailbreaker. Much more preferable. Hell, they already made the head...

I was originally all for Skids opposed to Ironhide.

 

On topic. Takara has another Optimus Prime for the fans in Japan, so I hope Hasbro will consider retooling this mold into Ironhide further down the road. Doubt it will happen though since both would have to be red and tat would suck to have to identacally painted alts. Considering it's a Ram maybe they'll paint it in blue with the white Shelby racing stripes and call em Soundwave. I'd be all for that. :thumb

They could also do Ironhide as his RID counterpart. That would make a pretty cool alt. But we have already seen that besides base colors, the Alternators (aside from Tracks) aren't a true homage to their original likenesses.

It's simple. They want more kids in on the Alt line.  Optimus is more recognisable to a kid than Ironhide.

in case anyone missed it before: there already was an Alt-Trailbreaker, it's just that Hasbro changed him into Swindle to meet the demand for decepticon Alts. if Hasbro does plan to make an Alt-Trailbreaker, they'll probably just make him a straight repaint of Swindle like they did with Sunstreaker/Dead End.

Except, the current announcement for the third Jeep is orange and Rollbar (who was green if I remember correctly...great G1 hommage). Unless, of course, there's going to be fourth jeep.

 

With Hasbro's statement that there a fourth Subaru coming, Ricochet, I do wonder how many versions of each mold we'll see. (Or will we miss out on the alert repaint?)

I so wish I could be at some of these meeting when they make these decisions on what mold will be what character and color. Like why'd they make Wheeljack a Mustang instead of Windcharger. Since they went with Wheeljack, why'd they make him white and blue. Who thought of Swerve and Ravage as Tracks retools? Rollbar and not Trailbreaker. I know this is Takara but alert as a WRX instead of Prowl? Where are the new Decepticon Alts? DE-frickin-CEPTICHARGE! Why, why, why. I'd give my left pinky toe to be able to sit in on these meetings.

True, and most likely. I wouldn't be surprised for one minute if Swindle will be repainted into Trailbreaker. (Was actually very surprised to read the Rollbar statement.)

 

Then again, there is Alt Prowl. All HasTakTom had to do was repaint Alt Silverstreak, add a lightbar and they would've had a very cheap Prowl, which would've been very G-1 accurate. But instead we got a completely new mold. So if there is going to be a Trailbreaker chances are that it will be no more than a Swindle repaint, but it could be something else as well. Time will tell. We can speculate, argue and reason all we want, but in the end it's not us who make the decisions (unfortunately).

Prowl -> Acura. Ricochet -> Subaru.

 

I don't wanna think about the decisions behind BT\Alt anymore. It makes my head spin. :)

 

Trailbreaker (black Swindle) might show up in BT* though. Mini Spike or Sparkplug perhaps? Oh yeah. I forgot. Anime babes.
