Everyone keeps speaking of an Ironhide. Well I`m surprised no one has meantioned the Dodge Sprinter as a fantastic possibility for Ironhide. I mean it has a flat front, and the size of that van makes for the possibility of a base like the G1 Ironhide. That and because it`s a van it could easily be redone into Ratchet.

I guess that makes us the only two people here to think of the Dodge Sprinter.  I've mentioned that van before.  I saw a red colored one on the street, and I thought it was perfect for Ironhide.  Everyone seems to have this great fear that mini-van is the only option for Ironhide at this point in time.  It's always, "SOCCER MOM VAN, NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"  No one realizes that Ironhide could be commercial grade van, something that might be used by an electrician, plumber, or some other kind of contractor.  Nothing says manliness more than a skilled trade, and that's what can be associated with the Dodge Sprinter.

I actually saw a Sprinter for the first time while checking out auto maker's pages looking for a suitable Ironhide body... wasn't too fond of it.  I liked the old Dodge van better :tdown

I still like the van idea for Ironhide... dunno if I'd be too fond of a base-type setup.  It would be a logical compromise to the bulk issue though.

If only they still made shorter-wheelbase models... DAMN J00 MINIVANS!

And here's the site itself:

I think the cargo version is the most appropriate van for Ironhide. It's also to Hasbro's advantage, since they don't have to make windows for the sides of the van.

But the Sprinter is better.  It has a G1 look to it, is a modern van, and sacrificies nothing in the way dignity to character.  It also can closely pass as an ambulance for Ratchet, although I've never seen one as such a vehicle.

Sorry, but I'm getting a distinct delivering-pizza-on-a-Faggio vibe from the Sprinter... the previous Dodge van had a lot more brawn going for it (no pun intended)

I liked the Ford E-350, since I saw one next to me at a traffic light the other day which was used as an ambulance.  I figger if it can look like Ratchet..

I agree but the same could be said for all older cars.

That was back when car companies could manufacture real metal bumpers and cars that could literally drive through a brick building. It was before many of the crash safety advances in cars.

Hence the saying “They don’t make ‘em like they used too….

it wasn't til after that intial 6 that they lost their minds, not to say that they're haven't been good ones after choices after that, but that's where it happened, and it's been getting crazier from their, but their still are some really make sense choices, there's just some nice oddballs 2.....all the cons  :redface

ok i take it back they lost their minds after the intial 6bots, yeah de was def a crazy oddball decision and was the 5 or 6 one depending on how you look at it
