The Best News from BotCon 2005 is.....

Recommended Posts

according to the law, we cant see US version MP megatron

Only if they refuse to paint the barrel orange.  They could do it, and then the fandom could just paint over it with chrome silver.

The greatest news was not the BW 10th, the best news was that Hasbro effectively will have something for everyone in 2006.

What's this about.  I've been kind of in the dark because of school in regards to Botcon.  So can somebody fill me in as to what news there is of G1.

The line after Cybertron is planned to be a G1 Redux. We've seen Alternator Mirage and  Optimus Prime. Astrotrain and maybe Sideswipe will be reissued through Hasbro's online store. A ton of G1-centrix Cybertron repaints planned. And the new Titanium Transformers that feature all generations.

MEGS returns as a gun!!! FINALLY some real justice! I don't care about any other character as long as MEGS is in a form of a gun (not realistic) and Prime is a realistic form of a big rig!!

And just think, Beast Wars has only been around for ten years, and check out the influence it's had in the fandom. Ten years after G1 started, G2 was crashing and burning. One might even think BW has been more influential than G1 was. :schin *flame baits*

G2 failed neither fast nor in a vacuum.

The Dialcone era molds, despite an inflated price and some questionable colors, did comparatively well.  It's why we had 3 years of G2 instead of 1.  After that we got Scramble City reissues...in hyper neon and with even worse distribution than last year.  The last nail in G2's coffin was the load of garbage molds, particularly the Gobots, that took over in the final year.  Laser Optimus, retailing at $50 in 1994 (what, close to $75 now), and the Cyberjets couldn't save it at that point.

Really, the comparison to BW at 10 isn't that different if you consider how a significant percentage of Universe (which tanked, more or less) was comprised of Beast era molds.  Purple Silverbolt anyone?  We make jokes about yellow plastic but, serious, was there a Beast repaint that wasn't repulsive?

Given enough idiotic choices and retailer ineptitude, _anything_ can fail.

As soon as I heard this news, I felt my wallet clench in terror of the oncoming financial assault. I think its fantastic that we'll be getting these awesome toylines, but damn. So much stuff all at once, I'm not even caught up on my alts yet and still just dabbling in cybertron.

Don't forget that G2 was backed only by a Blotty cartoon re-issue (that only seemed to play Dinobot Island in my area  :wtf  ) and a poorly distributed, albeit short lived, comic book.

I didn't see it until after the whole series was over. I heard about it on BWTF, then finally saw it. Kinda lame. It was an OK story, but there are more deserving toys to be made than Transmutate.

what other character would they put in?  All the show characters had toys made already.

the tf fandom is not a collective organism, it is as bitterly divided as the UN. while BW 10th is good for the BW fandom, the filler line is good for the G1 fandom.

BW >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> JOO

Once again, I have to ask. Have you forgotten that this isn't INH?

Joel responded to my e-mail concerning the BW 10th toys:

we will carry the full line once they are released, thanks for the inquiry

so i guess they may not be Target exclusives at this point :clap

They were NEVER said to be Target exclusives.  Did you not follow the link I provided?  If you had, you'd notice that Mouth04 never said they were when he reported on the listing.
