i'd like it a hell'a betrre if it had a trailer that would transform into armor. even if it was a snap togeather model style.

I don't usually buy Takara Transformers (e-Hobby is about it at the moment), but Ultra Magnus looks so good that I'm seriously considering paying the high price of importing him.

u do realize this is a white optimus prime right?  heh...i cant believe people can look past the fact that this was just a lazy move of a release that looks nothing like the actual character.  Whats wrong with u people?

Fact is this is the greatest TF figure ever made and if they painted him black as Scourge I would buy him as well, or Blue for Diaclone Powered Convoy (orignal Magnus) or yellow for matrix Magnus......

I buy repaints all the time. Buying a repaint of a Transformer as cool as MP Prime doesn't bother me in the least.

As far as him not looking like the character, I like the look of him without his armor better, anyway.

i dont have him yet :tfsad

I wanted a white Prime ever since I read Dreamwaves story wher UM ripped off his armor to fight shockwave. I had an extra 20th annv. Prime which I was planning on customizing. But when I saw MP-02 UM I was like yeah I'll get it. It could also be heat resistant Prime like in the cartoon THE RETURN OF OPTIMUS PRIME

what's your point here? so was the generation one toy. hell, scourge who is a fan favorite is a prime in black. asking what's wrong with us for buying a repainted toy makes you look like an ass. of course it looks like the character, simply minus the armor. i can live with that. i like it better this way.

I was going to make that point as well.  If you transformed the cab of G1 UM, you got a white Prime.  MP-2 may not be show-accurate, but he is toy-accurate, as lazy a release as he is.  He's still Ultra Magnus.  He's just not in his...can I say it?  Super-mode.

What a trail-blazer Ultra Magnus was.

I never cared for the character, but I can totally understand why Takara made it based on these responses.  I agree that it's a totally lazy move on their part, but that's also what some would call a shrewd business decision... the toy cost very little compared to its first release, and is apparently a hit with the fandom.  If it funds the furthering of the MP line, I'm all for "lazy repaints"!
