KO Megatron

If your careful with it Brasso is also very good for getting paint apps off that you want removed.  Plus depending on the plastic quality it will often shine it up a little as well.  Kinda buffs it.  But if it sits on bare plastic to long it can eat it as well so have to watch it.

The q-tip method, with either just dabs or fully soaked (plastic and all), seems to take as long as 5 minutes of swabbing or more for anything to even happen.  Somewhere in the middle seems to be a moisture level that was quickest, but I still can't get into the inner edges and such.  Neither old toothrbrushes or toothpicks seem to do it either, so I don't get it.

It took me about a half-hour and twenty Q-tips with 90% rubbing alcohol.  Tiresome, but eventually you'll get all of the orange off.

Fortunattely, mine worked fine after simply tighting all the loose screws.

Hey, Thad.

What did you use to apply the alcohol?  I tried a q-tip in a small disposable plastic cap (the sort that comes with cough syrup bottles) and was unable to get a lot of residue off, mostly from the recessed edges and such.

Actually what I did was I soaked the tip of the barrel in a cup of alcohol, and after 'bout a half hour took it out and used a wash-rag to wipe off the majority of the paint, and a small precision screwdriver to scrape it out of the crevices where necessary.  On the one's I've got there's still some orange left, but it's hardly noticeable.

Ok, little late with the pix, but here you go....

The one on the left is the KO with most of the orange removed from the barrel and the face repainted, and some labels applied from another KO Megs, the one on the right is the TF Collection #6 reissue (sans labels):

KO face repaint: (a little blurry :( )

Reissue for comparison:

The KO looks a little squater, but that's 'cus the legs allow more lean forward so he doesn't look like he's falling backwards like the reissue does.

I will never understand why people love the original Megatron figure so much. It is something that will continue to elude me for the rest of my days.

I think it'd be cool to have him just because of who he is.... but I'm sure not going to expend a lot of money (or effort) on him, he is the king of G1 toy letdown suck IMO

What are Repolabels, I thought they were called repRolabels. :tflaugh  :tftongue

I've grown to actually like this figure as time goes on.  The same cannot be said for Rodimus Prime however.

He is the only TF I know of (besides Shockwave and Six Shot) that turns into a gun.  Well I guess fan alt modes of E.Shockwave and E.Six Shot also count.  I wonder if that was by Has/Tak design?  What a kawinkiedink....

I've bought two of 'em, absolutely awesome KO's.

and like RodimusVTS mentioned before... soak the barrel tip in alcohol and you can wipe off most of the paint, and then get a silver & red sharpies and repaint the face that way :thumb

Actually I just markered right over it and when I realized that the marker wasn`t heavy enough I used paint. Then later I used Testor`s model super glue to tighten his joints. Just be careful to keep it moving all the way until it dries so that you don`t glue the pieces into the position that you glue it in. If you really want to use a marker to color it then I suggest the Painty twin silver and gold marker. You can get in a Micheal`s craft store.
