KO Megatron

Recommended Posts

I am thinking about buying one off of E-Bay, and I was wondering if anyone had bought him, and if you did, how good is he?

He would end up being a present, so I want to make sure heis good before buying him...

It is the $15.00 one.

i dont recall who it was, but there is someone on this forum who bought a ko megatron (with diecast) and he swears by it. just the colors are slightly off. but the quality is good.

it's been on my radar for a while too :redface

Does anybody have a link to some pictures of this?  Or one of the auctions?  I'm not sure I've seen the bootleg in question.

I think I noticed this before, but didn't mention it. This toy uses the same clamshell and paper inside as the new SWTF toys do.

also I just realised the potential future confusion between SWTF and WSTF.  :tfmad

Anyhow, after about 33 days, I finally got a refund for the full amount of $35 through Paypal's buyer protection program for 2 of these 007 Megatrons.  The seller never responded to me or to Paypal's inquiry.  Paypall dogged it but they are now free (albeit damaged) KO Megatrons.  Of course I didn't NEED them to be brand spankin' new with tight joints an' all but it woulda been nice since that's what was advertised.. =)

I haven't had any problems with the 3 i've bought by now, except for some loose legs, which i've had varying success in tightening... but even normal Megatrons have that problem.  The face colors suck, along with the orange barrel tip, but I've had great success removing the orange paint using rubbing alcohol, and painting the faces with red & silver sharpies (and using a small precision screwdriver to scrape off any extra silver).  I'll see about posting pix this weekend.

Hey, Thad.

What did you use to apply the alcohol?  I tried a q-tip in a small disposable plastic cap (the sort that comes with cough syrup bottles) and was unable to get a lot of residue off, mostly from the recessed edges and such.
