TF origins

Recommended Posts

I have always preferred the Quintesson story to the Unicron/Primus story. In my own little fanboy universe, the Quints are the secret true creators of the TFs that nobody knows about / remembers, and the Unicron/Primus story is a "happier" TF myth that they created (creating their god and devil in their own image, etc). It just seems more f*cked up that way, which is probably why it appeals to me. :redface

I view the Botcon comics on the same level as Star Wars novels (i.e. as apocryphal material that should be interpreted in light of "true canon", which for me is the TV series.... only since I was never into the Marvel comics).

Anyway, the Quintesson creation story perfectly explains the origins of the distinct factions of Autobot and Decepticon (and why they even have faction symbols stamped on their bodies). I also find the Autobots' adoption of their former slave brand as a mark of pride to be very cool. Granted, the Quintesson origin sort of skips over the whole Vector Sigma thing, but then they never did explain where Vector Sigma came from, so it's entirely possible (in a retcon-licious way) to posit that the Quints created Vector Sigma as a "spark generator" or something like that.

BTW Bob Skir (head story editor for Beast Machines) has gone on record as saying that references to TFs "coming to Cybertron" was a mistake, plain and simple. Although the retconphiles among you might easily rationalize that by just saying that it was only Primal who made that claim, and who knows if he's even right. It could have just been an ancient and accepted Cybertronian story that didn't have any basis in reality. After all, nobody knew about the Quintessons...

Primus crashed into an asteroid and formed Cybertron.

The Quitessons took it over and made robots to mass produce weapons to sell.

These robots didn't develop emotions like the Season 3 of G1 said.  Primus gave them life and they ended up overthrowing the Quints.

The robots evolved and became Transformers.

Through the power of free will which Primus granted them, which also helped them overthrow the Quints, the Decepticons were born to conquer and rule.  To balance that out the Autobots were born taking on the symbol of freedom that Alpha Trion used to defeat the Quints, what is now known as the Autobot insignia.

Now Unicron crashed into an asteroid the same time as Primus and formed his own planet and used Primacron as a pawn to give him an alternate mode.

That's my theory.  Just don't ask me to explain where the Constructicons came from.   :thumb

i as well liked the quintesson story line. but i always thought primus/unicron fit in there but they just didnt tell us. kind of like they didnt know, like humans with our religions. i like nexus' explanation. that makes everything fit nicely. and am i the only one sick of hearing BOTCON COMIC ARE CANON BOTCON COMICS ARE CANON!!! i think xbob needs a Powerglideing muzzle. i can tell you i dont give a flying Blot about the side stories. aside from dw comics because they were just awsome.

I'd say it depends on which universe you're watching/reading. if it's the marvel TF comics, Primus did it. if it's G1/BW/BM, it's the quints. however, there's a problem with that, though a minor one. in BW, they make reference ot Primus at least a few times(Been a long time since I've had a chance to wtach anything other thna one episode of BW, so i'm not sure.). that could easily be explained away as myth. however, why woudl the transformers have a myth about Primus after it was revealed that the quints invented the TFs? again, I can tihnk of an explenation for that. it was just a saying that had been around for so long, it had become ingrained into the transformers' vocabularly. this presents it's own problem, as why didn't the G1 bots mention Primus?

I can't think of a good explanation for that one.

as for Armada, Energon and their japanese coutnerparts, I don't know if there was ever an explenation for the existance of the TFs. in Galaxy Force, and i guess Cybertron(I keep missing episodes of it.), it is deffinately Primus, who seems ot have been even more powerful of a god than the Marvel and possibly DW(I don't know much about the dreamwave continuity.) Primus'. in Galaxy Force, Primus is refered to as the creator of all. i guess his power wasn't infinite, seeing as how he had to split his spark up into four parts, and have a triggering device(Planet Force.) to revive him.

Edit: if you include the Botcon comics as cannon(Which I do, and to be honest, I don't understand why anybody else doesn't, but whatever.), then it's Primus and the quints just pulled a massive mindPowerglide on everybody.

aside from dw comics because they were just awsome.

:tflaugh

AND WTF WAS WRONG WITH THE DW COMICS??

dislike depth in your story lines? i actualy see megatron as more than a bumbling moron because of those comics. im sorry if i dont care for time traveling/alternate universe bullBlot. stories like that can only go so far before it just becomes retarded and uninteresting.

I liked the Primus/Unicron thing. Beings of magic forced to become beings of science and that sorta jazz. I like it. Though considering in my own little fan universe Galvatron and his followers (Scourge, Cyclonus) were worshippers and priests of Unicron rather than his creations, you could say I'm biased.

That said, I tend to like a bit of fantasy in the mix. That, and I dislike the Quints so very, very much. This is linked to my overall dislike of the cartoon as a source of serious background compared to the comics, which I tend to prefer.

"Me Grimlock Badass"

That's my theory.  Just don't ask me to explain where the Constructicons came from. :thumb

*Constructicons exist on Cybertron as civvies

*Constructicons get captured by robo-smasher and become decepticons

*Shockwave does his first combinerexperimentson them

*Devastator destroys Crystal city and puts Omega Supreme in a funk

*Time passes

*Decepticons leave Cybertron chasing autobots

*Constructicons abandon shockwave to flee his bullcrap and escape OS.

*OS chases and kicks thier butts across the universe.

*Eventually the constructicons are so defeated they go into stasis lock and set thier 'transportation' to attempt to find and home in on decepticon signals.

*Megatron and gang activate on earth

*Constructicon's ship activates and homes in on megatron. Constructiconsare mostly destroyed.

*Megs rebuilds them with earth forms

*Omega Supreme detects the reactivated constructicons and comes to earth

You forget that time were they (re)builded megatron.

*Constructicons exist on Cybertron as civvies

*Constructicons get captured by robo-smasher and become decepticons

actually, the constructicons joined the decepticons of their own free will and that robo-smasher story was something that OS's already fragile psych made up to explain away why they destroyed Crystal City. OS just couldn't handle the fact that his former friends willingly became decepticons and then destroyed a whole city.

i dont recall for sure but i thought megs turned them evil with.... something...

i could just watch the episode but im lazy
