you now, i think the set was really designed by aaron archer. he hates the dinobots so i wouldn't put it past him to design a sucky toy in order to discourage the fans from continuing to bug him for dinobot homages.

Grimlock is damn awesome. Swoop is a bit tall in comparison, but still they are both nice figures. The combined mode should be avoided at all costs. That's my 2 cents.

Ya know, I actually want this set even though I know it's crap. I wonder why they couldn't of made ALL the dinobots combine into a huge gestalt like that. It would of made it so much better. Not to mention bring that age old fan obsession with Dinoking to rest. :tftounge

Yeah, same here. I think I'll get the set just for the sake of getting it and because they're dinobots. I missed my chance the last time they came out (G1). But at the same time, I have a feeling I'm going to be disappointed.  :redface

They're not that bad. I've seen other figures in all the lines that were worse than these guys. Pretenders come to mind. GAH! How I hate those, oh and those wonderful pieces of asswipe plastic known as Action Masters. *vomits*

 

Grimlock & Swoop are by no means award worthy, but they sure don't suck as much as some of the ideas that have come down the line. I recommend them, but then again I'm a completist and happen to like the figures.

Yeah, that's a biased opinion I've made on the duo, but still, the Dinobots should have deserved better homage. I am not a completist, but I think even a completist should think twice before getting this one.

 

And what's wrong with Actionmasters? They ROCK!!! Pretenders? They rock too.

 

 

Ironicaly, I really like Grimlock in both his Actionmaster and Pretender incarnation much moreso than his Energon version.

Myself I really like the two. The combined form sucks but I'm a Dinobot fan so it dosent really matter what they look like.

I really wish I could comment but I'm still waiting on a set from a while back. I'm sure it will be any week now. :thumb

I'm no completist in any of the lines but I have set out to aquire these as well as Alpha Q two of the most hated Energon molds since the first waves Optimus Prime. Well guess what? I really liked both Optimus Prime, and Alpha Q for what they were and I'm pretty certain I'll like the Dinobots as well.

Grimlock does look a bit Fisher Price in my opinion, but Swoop looks amazing. Gotta love dual missil launchers. I'm kind of disapointed though at the lack of appreciation in the Gestalt department. Since aquiring Magnaboss I was really looking forward to see how this would work. I think the pics look cool enough though I'll see if I can adjust it for the better. I end up doing this with most of my TFs anyway. No show accuracy for me.

Funny you should say that, since that's what they were supposed to be, before they decided to slap the Energon banner on 'em.

 

And yes, we were lucky to get these two, 'cause Archer doesn't like Dinobots and, as should be obvious to anybody, Archer's personal likes and dislikes ARE the market for these things.  :thumb [/sARCASM]
