I just got Energon Grimlock and Swoop, and man, does this figure blow! I thought Energon Prime was the worst in the line up - then this abomination came along....I can't believe I was looking forward to this figure.

 

 

Cons to this figure:

 

 

-Grimlock is half the size of Swoop.

 

-Swoop is nothing more than flaps and panels to accomodate for the gestalt (think Ironhide of Magnaboss).

 

-Grimlock's alt mode looks more warped than a Quintesson.

 

-Grimlock's robot mode don't look anywhere as intimidating as his predecessors.

 

-"Mega Dinobot" - this mode sucks so bad, I don't have a word for it....

 

 

Pros to this figure:

 

 

 

Overall, this should have been a MUCH better figure...

Guess I'll be returning this "Transformer" tomorrow.... :roll

Yeah, I do. The fact that it sucked so bad has grown on me. I think I'll keep it.

Grimlock could be better and bigger but I like the simularities to the orignal... but swoop is the best.. he should have been like this in the past... his dino mode.. is one of my favorites from the last few years and I couldnt stop play'n (pose'n) him.

he just looks like he might just take off on his own.

 

the colors for both could have been "darker" they are a little "fisher price" even for energon...

but overall the the combination of both.. which we all only dreamed of for the G1 versions makes up for any of the flaws...

just my opinion... what do i know.

I'm glad I never bought these two.  They didn't look good even in the BOX! 

combination robots will always such as they are a compromise, devastator was the best of the bunch and was the first.

 

All of the `powerlinking` led to poorly designed robots (hot rod and fattimus prime for gods sake)

I didn't like this fig when I saw it so I didn't pick it up, I agree with what you said about this, this is one of the worst energon molds IMO.

The only thing that set is good for is an amusing repaint of Grimlock as Barney the dinosaur.  He already looks like him anyway, it might as well be the right colors.

I heard that the figures were cool to start with, but then got redesigned to accomodate powerlinking.

 

I never got them either, but due to lack of funds.

Ya know, I actually want this set even though I know it's crap. I wonder why they couldn't of made ALL the dinobots combine into a huge gestalt like that. It would of made it so much better. Not to mention bring that age old fan obsession with Dinoking to rest. :tftounge
