I just got my set in the mail yesterday so I can finally coment truthfully on these toys.

Sad to say I'm a bit on the fence, though I'm sure in time they'll grow on me.

What I like: As individual toys they're pretty neat. Both have fairly nice alt modes that IMO are fantastic homages to the dinobots in colours, and look. Basic level transformation isn't too bad, and in either mode they pose well, and study enough. Articulation is decent but limited because of the powerlinking scheme. Personally I like the alt modes by far the best even though they mirror Fisher Price. The Gestalt mode with many alterations can look pretty neat, and intimidating thogh the legs hurt the stabiliity a great deal.

What I don't like: First off I have to agree with pretty much everyone that this was a severly rushed job, and could've used more time in the Has/Tak R&D chamber. For the price on both of these they should have at least added the following. Energon Star ports seeing as all Energon has them. A weapon, any weapon for that matter. Swoops legs are easily big enough that each could contain a spring firing projectal in alt mod, and Grimlock without an energon sword is unthinkable. Lastly the Gestalt mode needs completely redesigned legs, because the slit chest on pin rollors is about the stupidest thing I've ever seen to date on any transformer. :roll Light piping for the eyes would've also added a lot of character to Grimlock, and Swoop. :thumb

Too cap this review, I'll admit they're not the best Transformers out there but they're also by no means the worst. Cool toys for what they are but with several design alterations, and weaponry could've stood out as some of the best Energon toys in the line. :thumb

What can I say, I like them personally....

My only complaint is that Grimlock should be slightly taller and come with some weapons!!

I don't think I like Grim's head sculpt so much... :wtf

The only reason I was going to buy them cause grimlock was in it.

Er, didn't you notice that Grimmy has heels? o_O

maybe we should call that grim mrs grimlock :tflaugh1  :tflaugh1  :tflaugh1

I liked the sculpt of them but found the toys to be incomplete!

the main failings are;

1, No compatable powerlink connectors (the connection is loose and seperates far to easely)

2, No locking system for Grimlock's sliding sholders (four little bumps in the slide to prevent the arms from sliding down as you pose them)

3, No spark crystal/energon star connecter

4, no energon weapon adapter posts!

5, No minicon adapter posts!

6, no extra weapons!!!

7,Poor instructions as in how to conbine (dous not explain how to use the wing pincers to hold the @%&**ing thing together!!)  :tfmad

To sum it up , I have found clumsy  cheap chinese conbinable transformable toys that are better thought out than this set, and I'm not talking bootlegs ether !  :redface

It has bonus points for the idea and for the sculpt but I consider it a Universe figure!

It's a worthwhile set to get but just be aware of it's shortfalls  :thumb

Thanks and thats the 7 ways this toy sucks.

That's some "shortfalls" - and considering the fact that they are made in China....(in fact, all the Transformers are made in China nowadays...)

I think this toy could have been better. It's a good set for the kitbashers to take to work on, IMHO.
