But if Hasbro can call Shockblast 'Shkwav' or whatever was on the plate, why can't Takara simply do the same??? Unlike with the Windcharger/Overdrive difference, Shockblast and Laserwave are supposed to be the same character. Quite disappointed about this as I only collect BTs and shockwave is one of my favourite characters. Lwave = lame-wave. (as far as the plate's concerned)

Shockblast = Hasbro couldn't call him Shockwave for whatever copyright reason. They compensated by putting SHKWAV on the license plate as a little gift to the fans.

 

Laserwave = Shockwave's Japanese name ever since G1, just like Prime is "Convoy".

I think I know where bluestreak1701 is coming from:  BT Lambor's plate reads "SIDESWP"

Interesting story so far. Does it actually say that his gun can be mounted on his gun arm, or am I missing something?

 

EDIT - Wow, I never thought of putting it there. Cool! I have him with his two guns on one hand and Grimmy's sword in the other. He's armed to the teeth!

There's no "name change" as far as Takara is concerned. For the same reason, earlier releases were named "Lambor" and "Streak".
