a helicopter for soundwave?! how the bloody hell does that work?! why couldn't they have made him an illegal street racing car with huge sub-woofers?! i guess the car companies are too chicken jive to let any of their cars be used as decepticons. oh well, if soundwave regains his mass shifting abillity, you'll hear no complaints from me. at least the name soundwave would be more appropirate for that than a helicopter.

Arcee in the movie = YAY

Arcee as a motorcycle = NO, DAMMIT! i want a fembot that turns into a car, making her a motorcycle just reinforces the stereotype that females are smaller and weaker than their male counterparts. besides, we already got an Arcee motorcycle in Energon. do something different, you jackasses!

myself i don't care about soundwave being a helicopter, it sounds like a cool idea to me, maybe the gun placements transforming

Arcee  :monkey  :tard there is no point in having her in the film whatsoever, especially if she takes attention away from the other bots, female autobot in 1st movie = lame, they should put a character like marrissa fairbourne in instead of that

Merissa Fairborne was totally annoying to me. But that's JMO. Anyway, if you're gonna have fembots in these movies at all, you may as well introduce them right away. I'm cool with Arcee in the movie, esp. as a motorcycle. Although then you'd have to deal with all the weird innuendo of her getting "ridden"...

Weird?

WEIRD?!?

Hot robot on robot secks RULES!!!

Bring it on!! I will buy a life size RC and rider her all day!!!

who is Marissa Fairborne?

and does anybody know why Herbie will conflict with TFs?

first  VW says - cant be a WAR MACHINE

then they say - We like your movie but Herbie currently has the rights so sorry???

Besides Prime, there are no real warriors on the Auobot's side...that's kind of lame, but I'm sure Jazz or maybe even Arcee will step it up (kind of like Trinity being one of the real badasses in the Matrix).

It is diconcerting that the few fans that can stomach such a sloppy message board all the time are being considered "the" fandom. It's obviously not a cross section of the fandom in general...it's really just filled with the extremists, who I thought DM and Dreamworks would be trying to avoid.

Hopefully, DM and Dreamworks make an even split regardin certain issues. Some go the way of G1....other toward reinvention.

Bumblebee = WAR MACHINE

Herbie = lovable kiddie car

this is just another example of Hasbro's inabillity to give a strait answer to the fandom. the simple reason why Herbie got the rights over Bumblebee is because Herbie is not a war machine, Bumblebee is.

I *think* the "Herbie" thing is just that there's a movie coming out about a VW Beetle, and the association with that might be too strong for moviegoers. Kind of like why they're not calling it "the matrix" anymore.... ya know. But that's just the impression I got from Don's post.

Like I said before, I don't really care about details like this. All I want is for the movie to be cool. Anyway, it sounds like (as splendic said) you've got a nice tug-of-war going between Hasbro, who wants OLD SKOOL, and Dreamworks, who wants NEW SKOOL. They should end up somewhere in the middle if all goes well. :thumb

One DM post that fell by the wayside was in regards to the question:  "Im a huge car/race fan. What are the chances exotic car makers such as Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, etc. , would be willing to participate in the movie?"

In all likelihood we will have on car company.

You never heard anything of the kind from a reputable source.

I'm assuming that Don meant "one car company" instead of "on car company."  Does this mean that just one car company will supply all of the Autobot alt modes - or that one of the aforementioned companies will be used for a single 'bot.

I can see where only a single licensed company might be used for the cars (probably due to legal/licensing issues regarding "officially" using a brand in a movie) - as this seems to follow recent use where car companies are "officially" involved, e.g. Cadillac in Matrix Reloaded, Land Rover in the Tomb Raider movies, or more recently Jeep for the new Sahara movie - as opposed to the FF movies which used a bunch of different cars, none of which were tied to the movie via secondary marketing means.

Well spotted. Talk about a marketing coup for whoever gets the license. I imagine it would be an American manufacturer.... (why? I dunno) if so I'd like to see it be Chrysler. I'm just thinking of the variety of different vehicles they make, and their relative coolness compared to Ford/GM. But that's JMO.
