US Transformers G1 Reissue Line on Hiatus

Recommended Posts

??????

How is this? I have three Hasbro seekers, a Hasbro Hot Rod, Silverstreak, Grapple, Red alert, and sold a Hasbro Jazz. These figures are either Identical or share a mold with Takara figures I already have, as I have every Takara Transformers Collection Reissue. Out of what I have seen, the quality of the Takara figures was generally better across the board. Red alert in particular is not in the same level of quality as my Takara Sideswipe. Overall I find the Hasbro reissues no more than equal in quality and usually less with a few LARGE exceptions:

1. Hasbro has either removed the launching mechanisms or made the missles ridiculously large and stupid looking with every figure with missles.

2. On Hasbro Jazz, Silverstreak, Prowl, and Smokescreen, they replaced Chrome guns and missles with black guns and missles. Not as nice as the originals, though I will say that Silverstreak looks quite nice with the black ones.

3. Hasbro Jazz was superior in quality to Takara Jazz. This is the main exception to Takara being equal or greater in quality to Hasbro. My old Hasbro Jazz was a LOT tighter than the Takara Jazz I have now, and I have heard from other people that this is generally the case.

4. Takara has VASTLY superior packaging and extras.

5. Hasbro Optimus Prime has shortened stacks, which is annoying to a G1 purist like me since the shortened stacks look like an old G1 Optimus Prime with broken stacks. The stacks were always the first thing that breaks on G1 Prime.

If you really think the Hasbro reissues are higher quality, say why and be specific. I have a fair number of Hasbro ones, and all of the Takaras, and I think you're nuts.

Wow, I'm totally not gonna read all that, but I'll say this. I don't have to post reasons for my beliefs. Takara's quality is crap. Do you have a SL Kicker? :roll 'Nuff said.

not to mention their prices are too high for me to waste money on

Some real Takara hate there. Buy American huh? Talking out of your (expletive deleted)? Sounds like it.

Well, I have thanks to Takara:

G1 Megatron

G1 Soundwave, w/Laserbeak and now Ravage and Buzzsaw

G1 Starscream with a Megatron gun he can hold

G1 Bumblebee with his cartoon head

G1 Insecticons with the first official Transformers Energon Cubes ever

G1 Predaking

I'm sorry Hasbro, but what have you done for me lately?

P.S. : Expensive? Sure, but you get what you pay for. I paid me $100, and I got me a Megatron. I paid me $165 and got me Predaking. And thats fine by me. Wasn't going to get them any other way. Especially not in the shiny new condition that reissues fresh out of the box tend to be. I can either troll Ebay for junky 20 year old G1 originals, do without things I want, or praise Takara for giving me candy. I go with #3.

P.P.S : I ordered my Soundwave as soon as U.S. sellers started having it. I paid I think $54.99 + 4.99 shipping from BBTS. Sounds like some people missed out.

it's crazy. nobody would pay that much. rareness, as i said before, is an excuse to up the prices to ridiculous amounts.

all the reissues on BBTS are insanely expensive. either the same as, or more than the tru markups. the autobot cars all cost $30.00 or $40.00 last time i checked. those arent even rare. and i think Blitzwing was a whopping $50.00

So why are you bashing Takara? The secondary market is to blame if the prices of toys get inflated. Will you whine against Hasbro when you buy a $60 Alternator Tracks from some scalper in E-Bay?

As for quality control, both companies have their issues. Takara has the crappy 2-pack Prime and Kicker, MP-02 while Hasbro gets the misassembled Universe BIAB Ultra Magnus, Steamhammer among others, and toys with missing paint apps to cut down on costs.

Before the mass release Takara reissues(which came out well before Hasbro started the Commemorative Series), anybody here remember trying to collect G1 back then?

I remember for complete and decent condition loose figures, $65 for Sideswipe, $85 for Prowl or Bluestreak, $90 for Decepticon Seekers, and over $100 for Megatron/Optimus Prime were all considered fair prices back then. I wouldn't even want to think about the prices of MISB, or especially MISB in c9+ box.

Anyone who doesn't think $30-$40 isn't a fair price for a reissue should try to remember when market price was $65 for a fairly loose c8-c8.5 version of the same figure.

Neither are fair prices.

you can say THAT again. the markets who inflate the prices apparently don't realize most of the people who want these toys either can't come up with that much money, or don't want to waste that much ona  toy that does barely anything. got my Megs for a flat $20.00. but there aren't any high-quality Bootlegs of Soundwave or Predaking, who apparently can walk on his own because why would he cost $200.00 otherwise?

and why hasnt Soundwave been released in the USA? are cassette players also deadly weapons now? or is Hasbro just stupid?

Wow... now we have a douche alert. I'm not talking out of my ass, but if you're such an expert at it, feel free. I don't "hate" Takara. I just dislike paying the prices to get their stuff and then finding out that my toy is either broken, such as my SL Kicker and most everyone else's was or that my reissue Anime Starscream is as loose as my original G1 released Thrust (It's been played with.) Now, don't go running your mouth about something you don't know about.

As far as what Hasbro has done for you lately, that question is totally worthless. If you don't know, then you've got issues.  :roll
