US Transformers G1 Reissue Line on Hiatus

Recommended Posts

At the moment The Generation one Toys R Us exclusive reissues have been put on Hiatus as Hasbro continues to Produce other exciting Transfomers Brand product Many of the current reissues have been marked down in price so if your interested you may purchase them at any Toys R Us store, But the line will return to production status in the near future.

Since many revisions may occur prior to a product release, information, such as release dates, possible new items and where to buy future products, is not available in advance for distribution.

Sounds pretty clear to me. The reissue line will continue at some point.

It's my chance to own some G1s myself, even though they're reissues, they're going to be the closest thing I can come by. I hope they release Wheeljack. As well as the twins Sideswipe and Sunstreaker. I want the Dinobots re-released, as well as the Perceptor mold, and Hound.

Okay, so what all are we missing? Looks like Ironhide/Ratchet, Sideswipe/Sunstreaker, Wheeljack, Perceptor, Hound, the Insecticons, Megatron (not gonna happen), the Predacons and Dinobots (also not likely to happen), and the Minibots would seem to be the most obvious ones, and most of those are available from Japan. So what else are missing out on?

soundwave and soundblaster, runamuck & runabout and all the triple changers

Hiatus often means "dead"

No, it leads to dead!

Well, the review of Frostbite in the TFCC April newsletter refers to Frostbite as "one of the last deluxe figures to be released in the Transformers Univere line"

So, whether or not that means precisely that, or they meant that it's one of the most recent, has yet to be seen.

Oh well, it's a shame. There's some great repaints in that line and some neat toys I never would have got without Universe. At least that's one less TF line to splurge on.

As for G1, the only hope for this line ever reviving would be the movie. It could possibly jumpstart the interests of its older viewers to relive their nostalgia again. Kids will also find out where the cool characters in the movie and in the cartoons originated from, and actually gain some interest in them.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the triple-changers. Hopefully the Japanese line will continue. It's not significantly more expensive, anyway, and they seem to do a better job. Still, we got some that they didn't, right?

Yeah, I really like the Universe line too. Most of the toys in it were from the time period between when I stopped collecting initially and when I started again.

As far as the potential continuation of the re-issues, if it happens simultaneously with the movie, I hope they don't just re-issue the re-issues they've already given us, but...if they're hoping for renewed interest in the base characters like Prime, Prowl and the Seekers....it seems quite possible.
