US Transformers G1 Reissue Line on Hiatus

This can be either good or bad for our beloved TF but I look at it this way, if Hasbro stops that jut leaves the door wide open for the BT figures from Takara.

What do Binaltechs have to do with anything?  :tfhuh

i guess i can add my complaint and beef with hasbro.

first off, if you want a takara version instead of a hasbro version, you have to pay $10.00 more than the tru markup price! look at BBTS. Soundwave costs $89.99. NINETY DOLLARS! FOR SOUNDWAVE! if THAT isn't a blatently overpriced figure, i don't know WHAT is.

speaking of prices, the tru prices disgusted me back when i first saw these toys there. if this stupidass jet is gonna cost $30.00, i sure hope he has lights or a feature on him worthy of such a high price. but he has nothing. just those horrid missiles. BAD! high prices means the toys wont sell. their popularity is just a sad excuse to raise them. and i won't fall for it.

with that said, i must also add that the worst of all the reissues were brought to the US. the only decepticons we have are seeker jets. the fact that i have Megatron is the only reason i would ever buy one of them. just for megs to have troops. why don't we get Soundwave? there's nothing wrong with him. why not Predaking? we really need a combiner or something decent. Astrotrain looked like the first major "jump" for the hasbro reissues. not only was he a triplechanger who transformed into 2 of my favorite vehicles, but he was a Decepticon. and not a seeker jet. that's, like, killing 3 birds with one stone. and tru, of course, dies right before the thing hits the USA.

back to tru, another fatal mistake by hasbro was making these figures tru exclusives. my city doesn't have a tru anymore. it closed over a decade ago. and the nearest one is more than 2 hours away. tru is the source of the horrid price increases. plus it's clearly a dying store. it was starting to die when the reissues came there. what chance did they have of selling if the store was doing poorly? why not make them target or wally world exclusives. my city DOES have a wal mart. and since wal mart's current status is, well, the opposite of tru's, the reissues would likely sell much much better than they would have at tru. the price would also likely be $10.00 less. $19.99 for a seeker jet is reasonable. $39.99 is reasonable for PMOP w/ APEX armor.

and lastly, the lack of a Megatron in the US is inexcusable. i see an easy and legal way for him to sell through hasbro. orange cap. that simple. nobody can file a lawsuit against hasbro because their kid painted over the cap. it isn't hasbro's fault if that happens. i never take my Megatron out of the house anyway. and he's a fun toy. plus his character started the war! he's just way too important to the storyline to not be brought to he US. especially when there's such an easy solution to the conflict.

well, that's my stance on this reissue crisis. i refuse to pay the sick prices on the takara ones. so i really want to see hasbro come to their senses and do the right thing

You people should sign up at Hasbro. Just to show everyone how great you'd run the company.

Into the ground.

Seriously - are you a lawyer? Do you have any experience in toy business? Or is this just "what everyone else said they should/could do"?

tell me, then. how can there be?  if you're so smart, explain how they can still file a lawsuit when it was not their actions that caused that to happen?

The problem with Megatron isn't the orange cap deal.  It's that the orange cap is just the Federal restriction.

States can, and do, have more regulations, New York state is one that does.  Plus Hasbro would have to deal with the possibility that different retailers may have different policies when it comes to toy gun sales.

Pile on top of that the fact that our (America's) lawsuit happy culture usually results in everyone possibly involved getting sued, and you understand why Hasbro might not want to wander into that potential mine field.

People file lawsuits all the time, whether they have grounds to or not. Even if someone who didn't have a legit case filed a lawsuit, it would be a pain and resources wasted for Hasbro to deal with it.

And a legit suit would probably happen at some point. Trust me, if you pulled Megatron on a cop, they would shoot you. He's very realistic. Or someone could probably use him to rob a store or something (could have sworn this actually happened once). But then, if they added the orange cap, fanboys would whine and whine. In pretty much every way, Megatron is a Starscream for Hasbro. The best solution is just for them to not touch it at all.

oh well. i have a megs of my own anyway. a bootleg. but a very accurate one. even has the die cast metal parts.

Soundwave is ridiculously rare these days, so it comes to no surprise that it costs a ton, just like any other rare toy. The same goes with Hasbro's Ultra Magnus and Prime which are long out of stock, so they are being sold at premium prices as well.

it's crazy. nobody would pay that much. rareness, as i said before, is an excuse to up the prices to ridiculous amounts.

all the reissues on BBTS are insanely expensive. either the same as, or more than the tru markups. the autobot cars all cost $30.00 or $40.00 last time i checked. those arent even rare. and i think Blitzwing was a whopping $50.00
