Plan for Alts to kitbash

Recommended Posts

First, I have 10 alts that I plan on kitbashing over the next good while... and I'm wondering if I should either:

A) Make homages of other G1 TFs that havn't been made yet -or-

B) Make my own characters -or-

C) Do a little of both

The only reason I am concearned about making homages is that they might be coming out with that character and then I'ld have to change/paint the one I did (luckily my prowl can be made into another TF easily).

Yea, it's kindof silly, but I just don't want to do a homage and then it come out...

Of some of the ideas I had, I was thinking of:

Windcharger = Tailgate (the white version of windcharger from G1)

Swindle = Ironhide

Grimlock = Stunticon Breakdown

others not "spoken for":

Silverstreak

Hound

Another swindle (probably just gonna take this one back)

Jazz

Tracks

Ravage

Deadend (will wait on him to see if sunstreaker is made)

just wondered everyones opinions and possibly some insight.

I'd stay away from the Ark-bots b/c you know they're eventually going to get produced. Go for the unexpected. It'll be more unique that way (does the world *really* need another "Silverstreak as Prowl" kitbash?).

I dunno why, but Jazz (Meister, whatever) seems to have a lot of kitbash potential. He has a sort of generic look to him that you could shape into whatever you wanted.

Here's a thought -- do the Shockwave thing and make a non-car TF into an Alternator...

I'd say use the Swindle for one of the "Tougher" transformers.

How about using it and a 1/48 tank model to make Warpath ? It'd definitely be unique. Or if you want to keep it a Decepticon, how about Brawl?

well, i havn't taken on the adventure of taking models and making them into tfs... maybe one day.

hmmm....yu knoe if yu choose a later character (not a g1 tf) it most likely wont be turned into an alt. like hotshot for wrx but it juz wouldnt be fun. Psst! i have an idea i havent heard people say yet...(whispers) how about riccochet for jazz, seems rite, rite? or red alert for vette. but seriously, i would like to see riccochet

i think someone did ricochet in here... but good thinking...

hmm, i searched and couldn't find anything... i might just do something like that... but no much bling bling...

Same here.

I think it's a safe bet if you pick a TF that featured in the first two season of the cartoon (or maybe even the third) you'll end up with a redundant repaint.

I myself have turned to studying the later G-1 releases (micromasters/actionmasters) and even G-2, to see if there are any characters that could be updated to Alternator (already decided on Treadshot for Silverstreak, Growl for Hound, might be doing Outback on Swindle, and some other action- and Micromasters).

But even then, you're not safe. (I planned to repaint the corvette into (micromaster) Roadhandler: would make him red in car mode with yellow or gold in robot...sounds familiar?)

Of course, it's all up to you. You can use favorite characters and may end up preferring your own repaint/kitbash over the official release (like Prowl or Wheeljack). Making up your own characters is also a good choice. I would really like to see an Ashton Martin Vanquish as an alt and think a darkish metallic green looks best. Ever noticed how few green car transformers there are? Makes it difficult to select a TF character. Making up a character would then be an option. Also makes the series more your own.

In the end, I think your best off with a mix: take some lesser known characters who could use an update (or characters whose name is lost -- Ratchet) and blend in a few characters of your own.

Id like to see Wreck Gar done off of Swindle. Sandstorm, also.
