headmasters show

Recommended Posts

Danny annoyed the hell out of me. I didn't mind Wheelie tho. Sometimes he would just magically appear someplace.

I find a funny parallel, such as in Seasons 1-2 or Beast Wars where anyone can go anywhere without getting into a plane or on a boat, to Headmasters where everyone can go anywhere except we are dealing with planets and not countries.

It gets confusing sometimes but I guess I will just have to deal with that.

unfortunatly, i have not been able to see the headmasters series, or even any of the japanese series for that matter. If only they would sell them in american stores that would be great. But, what i do know that it has much more action than the american series, which is obvious. even though the voicing was bad, there was still the animation which compared to the american series, had no contest( less boxey and more humanesque) then again, you guys could have a better opinion.

about the Prowl wheeljack problem, Prowl was in rebirth :P seriosly, they were proabably just revieved, seeing as TF's don't realy abide by the same rules as organic animals.

From what it seems the Headmasters Manga seems to be in the same countuitcy as the show, but I am not certan.

Is any of these shows good? i almost dl TF:Victory episode one then stopped because of what i read on the internet about it, so is this show along with HM good? cause i'll just go and dl it right now if it is.

I really don't like the Headmasters series: OK the animation is good, the story wants itself more serious but the dialogue is seriously bad, the background music's awful (I prefer good ol' Rob J. Walsh BGM by far), and overall the whole show's boring: the Sunbow cartoon wasn't always very subtile but at least it was always fun to watch.

WHAAAAAAT? Given the obvious problems with the soundtrack (and I'm sure someone will correct that soon) Headmasters was way better than season 3 which preceded it. Firstly, the idea of small TFs building bigger bodies to rumble with the big boys is far more appealing than "Hey, little green man, wanna live IN MY HEAD?" But beyond my issues with Rebirth, it was the first place they used a template that they've re-used over and over again, the sage-like leader and the impetuous young punk who's just learning to be a leader. (It was Fort Max and Chromedome in this one, but it's reflected in the relationship between BW Prime and Cheetor, and Armada Prime and Hot Shot) It almost seems like they wanted to do this with Hot Rod, but they elevated him to Prime status too quickly. Prime fusing with Vector Sigma made sense, because that's what Alpha Trion himself did when he left for good, and his reappearance at the beginning of the series reflects this. Also, Scorponok was a far better Decepticon leader than the insane Galvatron, mostly because he commanded the absolute respect of his subordinates (you never saw Weirdwolf speak out of turn like Starscream, and he managed to bring the previously fiercely loyal Soundwave over to his camp with little difficulty) and his plans were far reaching, well planned out (for the most part) and a great deal more successful. (He blew up a couple planets, for frig's sake, and having spent most of his life on Master Planet, realized that Galvatron's obsession with Cybertron could be his undoing.) Galvatron was powerful but hot-tempered and overobsessive, while Scorponok was far more interested in winning.  Dominating Cybertron was Galvatron's goal; Scorponok (that little Napoleon) was far more interested in ruling the Universe.

Then you have Sixshot, who according to the bad dub, had the best job EVER, that of "Ninja Consultant." He's also one of the best Decepticons ever, though it doesn't seem very ninjalike to just keep yelling "TRANSFORM" and shoot at everything. Effective, yes, but not very ninjalike. He's about the only Decepticon capable of taking on a bunch of Autobots at once with little difficulty. Plus he has that great moment towards the end of the series where he and Danny are stuck on some planet together and suddenly it becomes "So. . . do you like Gladiator films, Danny?"

I'm not saying that the series is wart free. (Giant plants and Wheelie come to mind, as well as the questionable parts like when Wheelie says to Danny "You really know how to please me." And the early episode where that boy appears to be getting WAAAAAY too familiar with his goat. Plus after how important he was, Goldbug and the rest of the Throttlebots meet the STUPIDEST ending ever.) But what other series had TFs doing drunken karaoke sung appropriately off key? What other series had Raiden? Or even the weird Unicron fixation that Galvatron had?

Sorry that this is such a long post.

Have to disagree with you on Scorponok, I do not think he was that great a leader. Ok, Weirdwolf never spoke out of turn but Starscream was an obvious traitor whose role was to do just that. Soundwave never disobeyed Megatron and even carried him to Astrotrain after he was badly beaten by Prime.

And I chalk it up to poor characterization that Soundwave/Soudblaster follows his lead. Here you have your leader you have been following for centuries, one whom (in his previous form) conquered Cybertron) and suddenly some upstart shows up and destroys your hope and apparantly your leader. Would you follow him?

By all right, the Decepticons should have destroyed Zarak after he blew up Cybertron. I mean a leader who is willing to do that to my home (granted it is not home to the 'masters but it is to the other 'cons) would mean that he is as insane as Starscream and quote Menasor "Does not know when to quit."

So I would not follow him but form a temporary alliance with the Autobots to stop it. In the G1 comics (Marvel and Dreamwave) the Transformers have always teamed up to save Cybertron. It is in their oil to do so meaning all other concerns such as the war are secondary. This would have applied here.

I would have rebelled, I mean I would not want to serve a psycho who destroyed my hope planet.  :tfmad

All it would take is wait untill his Transtector was damaged so Zakar was in his smaller mode. Then you simply grab him and pull all his limbs off, one by one.  :tfevil  Even Wheelie should be able to best him in that mode.  :tflaugh

And of course Galvatron was obsessed with Cybertron. Vector Sigma is located on it which has the ability of granting Transformers new life (meaning new troops) and it is his home. He defied Unicron to save Cybertron, he is not going to let that little runt Zarak destroy it.

If aliens were to come and take over Earth and force us to live on Mars in poverty, all you wanted to do is get back to Earth somehow. There is no place like home. Having no attachment to a planet is logical and in from a tactical aspect better (as you do not care about getting it back) but that would make the Transformers less human.

Speaking from a tactical viewpoint, the destruction of Cybertron was really the dumbest thing Zarak did. If anything, it makes the Deceptions rebellious (and it SHOULD have caused them, or Galvatron, to kill him) it should also have made the Autobots a LOT more determined to take you down.

I mean for a series to idolize friendship so much that with it, the headmasters can recharge themselves to forget about rage makes little sense. Rage (as illustrated by the Hulk) is a very powerful emotion. Especially the Dinobots (who were sadly forgotten at that point) should have gone off to Chaar by themselves and kick butt.

I am not saying it is a good emotion but when one is angry one can do things one normally could not so the Autoborts could have easily taken Zarak down. Sadly they did not which is a real shame.

Of course the Japanese treat them as machines so it is to be expected that they would not care. In the G1 comic Skullgrin and a few other Decepticons are destroyed by Jihaxus' forces. When this got out to the other Decepticons, all they wanted was revenge.

Back to destroying Cybertron, it makes Zarak's mission much more difficult. Destroying Cybetron gave the Autobots one less base to defend. So instead of 3 they now only have 2 planet on which they have bases.

Say they have 100 Aubotots (just a ranbom number) which means they could station 33 Autobots on each planet. Now however, the figure is nearly doubled to 50. Which makes staging an attack far more difficult.

If Zarak was really so smart, he should have let Galvatron think there was an Autobot weapon on an asteroid (which he filled with explosives) and then destroyed him thusly.

Then you go out of your way to make the Autobots think Cybertron is your main target so they will place more troops there, leaving other planets vunerable. The best option when you are outnumbered in a battle is to spread enemy forces over a large territory so you can attack them easier. Scorponok did the opposite.

Anyone who plays games like Civilization or Birth Of The Federation (I am a die-hard trekkie so I play this game despite its flaws?) knows this. The more territory you have, the harder it becomes to defend it.

So Zarak only made the Autobots job easier while creating a situation for rebellions to be formed. Hardly a smart move. As leader one should always listen to one's troops and the majority of them are Cybertronians who would eventually want their planet back.

Some of Zarak's plans were better but during G1 Megatron has plenty of good plans as well. Galvatron just got insane after Unicron was destroyed and that whole lava bath. There are plenty of insane Transformers but simply because this one was in charge, he was more noticable.  :tflaugh

And Megatron's ambition never stopped at Cybetron either for that matter. I think that during season 3 Galvatron also had Galaxy spanning intentions but that the Japanese bumped those back to Cybertron only in order for that weakling Zarak to seem more impressive and thusly a better leader.

I did not like Optimus and Megatron dying in the movie but at least that is the way to replace a leader. The way it was done in Headmasters made no sense at all.

I thought the Ultra Magnus Translation vioce was better than the orignal G1 voice!!

Headmasters is a bit silly, I've seen the first 11 episodes. Masterforce is great, but it's not anything like what most people consider Transformers. I have yet to watch any of Victory.

Tend to agree.

Well, that Masterforce is not what most people consider Transformers. I do not know it if is good or not. However since it is not really Transformers anymore I doubt if I will like it all that much.

I don't know if Prowl and Wheeljack had voices in those moments, but I would think it likely they might have been other bots with the same body and coloration. Heck, we have lotsa 'clone' type TF's in G1 as it is.

i've a headmasters DVD set, but not English version.

i dont like masterforce, the god ginrai looks too silly. how do you think of victory?
