I'm very Outback about Alternators having realistic paint job............

I agree. The whole deal with Alternators is that they are uber-realistic. Let's keep 'em that way.

Err... It's a Chevy SSR, a REAL truck :wtf What's not realistic about it (besides the autobot logo on the door)??

The color my man, the color.

Like Shockwave, you don't need a G1 paint job per say.  From the Chevy website, I believe the stock Aqur Blur Metallic fits Kup just as good as Lazerbeak's photoshop

I think what they are trying to say is that the paint job on the truck is not one of Chevy's standard colors scheme.  Which to me does not matter. I like how this paint looks.  People custom paint their cars in real life , so it would be realistic that some Alternators are too  :thumb

edit: Furious George beat me to the response. Doh!

Yeah, to stand out.  I thought the whole point of an alt. mode is to blend in...................

Well if humans see a repainted car they wont think, "hey that is a different paint job! It must be a robot!". They will try to blend in with the culture and personalizing stuff is part of it.  I understand what you are trying to say.  If TF's drive around in a major city it wont matter.  But if they are out on in the country where there are old cars and pickups, just a plain red Dodge Viper will be out of place.

awesome, man!

if you need any help or advice, just ask!!

Good thing the paint job is what the creator wants and not for everyone else huh? :roll

Besides, I think driving around without a human in it would be a dead give away anyway...

What's it matter anyway? To be hounest, the paint job for it looks awsome IMO.

Very Kup like.

Besides, I guess people being annal about Meister having Jazz stripes is ok compared to huh?

Yes, a racing car going down the side of the road happens everyday... :tflaugh

Awsome work man! Not everyone will get it but I appreciate little added details like that. One color is just too plain for me.Things like this is why I got into customizing. :thumb

Thanks again for the compliments guys!

As for the colors?  I'm sticking with the two tone paint.  Mainly because I like it.  But also because that's what Lazerbeak did in his digibash(what I'm modeling it after) and it has a nice Kup feel to it.

Back to my original intention that this thread is to help people on their projects.  This is how I tackled the doors.  After doing some test fitting I found the stock hinge location on Smokes would not work because the model is so narrow in the middle.  But I could relocate the hinge in the inside between the dash and the seats.  I cut up Smokes doors so all that was left was the hinges.  I then used the outer door panels and the inner panels from the model kit and notched it out accordingly so the hinge would set reccessed in the inner door panel.  The door needed to be able to slide like Smokes for transformation.  The inner and outer door on the model kit slide very well so all I needed to do was pin the two pieces together.  I did this by using 4-40 bolt glued to the inside of the door, notching out the inner door panel, and a nut to hold them together.  All thats needed now is to glue the other side of the hinge on Smokes dash.
