ALTERNATOR SWERVE! WTF!

Recommended Posts

call him roadrage (that name would never get past legal)

Actually, I got a question on that. I've got a few different things for Road Rage.. about half of which is just 'Rage' (Or 'Ragi', actually). What does the figure box actually say on it?

couldnt tell you, but here is a screenshot of tfu.info's tech spec

That's not what he was asking... he was doubting the accuracy of the English interpretation of the name.

Here are the Japanese spellings:

ロードレイジ

Rôdoreiji. Or, in more proper English, Road Rage.

No, I knew that 'Rage' was right, it's just I saw a lot of entries as just 'Rage' out there, and wanted to know if the figure actually had 'Road Rage' in full on it. I thought it did, but I wasn't sure.

*BURNS THIS TOPIC* :fire :fire :fire

:lol

Yeah, I've gotten all my angst out already. It's not like I wanted a red Corvette repaint to be someone else anyway. All I want is friggin' Tracks. :grr

and Sunstreaker and Trailbreaker...

so getting back on topic (like that will ever happen)

anyone think that swerve is an apology alt for tracks being shortpacked... as a vette fan, it is Starscreaming (4 transforming vettes on my shelf, yesss)

just a thought,

it would have been nice to get alt zoom zoom though

I read an itneresting opinion on TFW that hypothesized...

...The red 'Vette is being released before the license expires, so that those who missed Tracks and don't like Ravage have a 'Vette to buy. Then Tracks will likely ended up being re-released a couple of months later, and all those same people will likely buy him as well, making as much $$$ as possible on the mold.

It doesn't sound too far fetched to me.

Here's my new thought, inspired by the last couple of "liscense" comments...

What if the Liscense aggreement SPECIFIED three different molds within a set time period... Takara squeezed out two different colors of Tracks and then Ravage, thus meeting the quota on thier side of the pond, but since Hasbro canned the yellow version, they were left holding the hot potato at the end of the contract, and HAD to release a third version to avoid legal issues. Thusly, they do the cheapest thing, remold only the head, as a red version of Tracks would be fairly pointless in the US market. So they remold the head, throw on an obscure name and hope for the best. Point being, we may have Chevy to blame, and not Hasbro. Sorta like when a record company holds a band to thier 3 record contract, even when the second record was ill recieved, and the third is destined to tank because of that, but they still make them put it out. Just a random thought... discuss? :D

That's an excellent point. I doubt Hasbro wants to kill the alt line as some seem to think. I believe if they could they would probably use some mold for only one character. That's why many of the remolds are odd characters, so the popular characters can get true alt treatment.

I've thought that all along...does it ease the staleness of the line to me...not really. If Chevy really makes for multiple releases, then I'm not sure how many Chevy Alt's we're gonna get, since it might be too costly for HasTak to deal with at the moment.

I'm curious about how many times each car mold needed to be produced to handle legal issues. It seems like 2 for each, but with the new Corvette, it makes you wonder...cause with the Subaru...Takara made 3 while Hasbro only made 2...If I were a betting man, I'd say that we're still due for another Subaru release in the US, just taking a wild assumption.

Following this trend, I'm curious about how Ford is going to handle the number of Mustangs that need to be produced.

I kinda think Splendic may be on to something with his last post:

That is a very good thought as well.

Mark my words: next year, instead of any new Alts, we'll get all of the first year's figures re-released with rub-signs.

"Alternators/BT isn't G1" my a$$... :tflaugh

:rofl

And the year after that they'll re-release some as Target Masters.
