what kind of plastic are you using?

is it styrene?

what thickness is it?

the only styrenei have in my city is up tp 1mm

so nothin i build is too strong

I use regular styrene.  Mostly 2mm thick but I do use 1mm thick in certain areas (mainly to add detail and not really for structural support).

hey viagra, just a question when you did this grimlock how did you figure out where to put certain parts? I did a lot of trial and error when i did my alt bumblebee and it drove me crazy.

Measuring and calculating.  Sometimes just eyeballing things too.  But I also go through trial and error.  Not in the sense of arbitrarily going for a certain size and placement and see if it works, but more like measuring and then making it but then refining afterwards.  I had to redo certain parts after it turned out it didn't fit.  This is also why I try not to glue unless I'm done or know for certain it'll fit.  I also don't glue it yet because I need to cast the parts first anyways.  No matter how you approach it, its long and tedious.  I sometimes find myself staring at a certain part and looking at it at all angles for over 30 minutes just trying to visualize how it'll fit and work.

Little update:

-Redid the midsection waist to have 2 rows of "teeth" instead of one.

-Added the connector piece to connect the hip to the waist.  Made it so the waist can twist as well.

-Added the connector piece to connect the waist to the upper body.  These are the 2 pieces you see on each side of the waist.  The waist can disconnect from the upper portion of the body while these 2 pieces slide out of the upper portion of the body but still is connected to it.  The waist can then be angled about 45 degrees to transform to alt mode.

Finished the rest of the body as well as the head.  Sorry about the glare on the head, I probably shouldn't have painted it gloss black.  Anyways, I basically have the "wings" left and sword & gun.  Wings are the hardest part most likely so next update in 2 months.  :tflaugh

That looks awesome VP, also really like the head. So are the arms posable at all?

Yes, arms are posable.  Its ball jointed at the shoulders and elbows so you can pratically move it any which way though the treads do limit motion side to side.  Also, for some reason its a bit loose right now.  I think there is a bit of shrinkage from the casting making the joints loose.  But nothing nail polish or rub on rubber won't fix.

Ah I should have clarrified that more. I meant sideways movement seeing as the treads do look like they'd block movement.

drooling amazing work bring on the sword im interested to see how that comes out.are you going to use clear resign and dye it to give it a energy weapon vibe?
