Next Alternator is... [UPDATED W/ PICS]

Yeah the one thing that stands out about this Alt is from the others is that, I just don't get it...at all.

Every other choice they have made with this line has had some glimmer of logic behind, even if it often wasn't the thread of logic I prescribed to, but this one? It dumbfounds me.

Not a "real" car, bot kibble in Alt mode, no descernible single character. I mean those criteria were the reasons that we rationalized all of the rest of the craziness with this line, but now that's all out the window, and some of their other, older choices become even more annoying in retrospect..

I can't find the pictures, can someone post them on here?

At least not as big a stretch as Megs as an S2000. C'mon, the leader of the good guys is a huge, powerful semi rig, and the supposed baddest of the baddies is a tiny, 2-seat roadster? He'd get squashed like a mosquito.

As opposed to an eight and a half inch long pistol?? ;)

I see your point, but comparing a weapon to a vehicle is like comparing burritos to rockets. Using alien technology, in his pistol form Megs was capable of doing some major damage despite his size. I can buy into that idea. Still, the later tank versions are a LOT better suited to him and make a better foil to Prime.

But the thought that the cons have some technology to make a flyswatter of a car like the S2000 the equivalent of a robot of their same race who turns into a semi truck? Nope. Even if they did, then the same tech would be applied to Prime, once more making Megs look pretty weak.

We could split hairs on this all day, but when the smoke has settled and the dust has cleared, an S2000 for Megs is just goofy. A Hummer H2 for him, and a Super Duty for Prime in order to get both in the Alt line (assuming that MP/20th Anniv. Prime has nothing to do with this continuity) would make a lot more sense.

I like the idea of Rumble/Frenzy being ATV...could make their arms attached to the wheels, and be able to flip the back pair forward over the fists and have their piledrivers emulated.

I have an idea for taking care of the pile driver thing if this ends up being Rumbe/Frenzy:

Turn the engine into some kind of earthquake machine. That'd solve the (insert whiny-ass, mocking voice here) "Honda doesn't want its characters to have guns" problem, as well as the 'two shields, one obviously a gun missing its barell' problem.

He'd hold it like a jackhammer, but instead of being a piledriver/jackhammer, it would look more like a wave generator for making the seismic vibrations--like thier G1 tech specs read--well, Rumble's anyway. That makes more sense than the idea that these two tiny little guys who have such low strength ratings somehow can pound the ground hard enough to make the earth split apart and make 4 ton robots lose thier balance.

But, by your logic Megatron should have been a bazooka not a "flyswatter" of a gun like a P-38. The problem being Megatron didn't really have that impressive of an alt-mode in G1. If a little gun can face off against Prime there's no reason a little car can't.

I'm not saying I don't agree with you regarding the S2000. Although, I think a big luxury sedan is a better alt-mode for Megatron than an SUV. Something inherently dangerous looking about a big black sedan that would be a good Megatron. I believe either a Mercedes S-class or a Chrysler 300 would be suitable for an appropriate "gangster" look.

Well handheld weapons are handheld weapons, all are tiny in comarison to the semi. But still, if a guy was pointing even a Deringer at you, you'd be afraid, yet we drive within inches of semis all day, so the intimidation factor is about right.

But a luxury sedan? Ok, thats WAY off. A luxury sedan would suit Swindle's personality MUCH better than Megs. Luxo-cars say 'slimy lawyer', 'yuppie', or 'businessman' to me. In my eyes, they arent the least bit intimidating, just boring. Those are the kinds of guys you see driving them. A big, brutal tyrant is much better suited to a powerful military grade SUV. And besides, a semi would squash any sedan on the planet as well as the S2000, its just that the 2000 would get it just a LITTLE worse is all.

There are only 2 molds that I think have even a hope of doing Megatron justice (the whole Megatron-deserves-better-than-a-repaint issue nothwithstanding), and thats the Jeep and the Mustang molds. The Jeep is a compact, yet tough rig and the robot mode is suitably bulky and powerful looking. The Mustang is a stylish and powerful car and its robot is also athletic and powerful looking. Hell, it works for Grimlock.

All Im saying is if you have Megs, you gotta have Prime. And they have to be somewhat matched. If Prime's a semi, Megs needs to be a tank, jet, mobile cannon, etc. Megs is an SUV, Prime needs to be a fullsize pickup. And if Megs is a 2 seat roadster, then Prime needs to be something equivalent.

Megs is an SUV, Prime needs to be a fullsize pickup.

Looks like Prime still wins, though :thumb

^^^heeehee im liking that pic
