Rumor: Dreamwave going out of business?

Recommended Posts

Like a few other that has stated in the thread, DW is a one trick Pony, its the Transformer license that is keeping the company afloat. DW probably ran into some cash flow problems, which lead to all the numerous delays.....no cash = no production. Maybe they can file under chapter 11 and still operate and restructure themselves. Trim off all the dead weight comic lines and focus on the cash cow, G1 comics. Even if DW does die, I think someone will absorb the license and writers, whether it be Hasbro or Marvel or who ever. It will be a shame if all the comics suddenly stopped. That is such bad PR for Hasbro, first they had the 3H Problems with OTFCC and now DW. Seems like a huge mess that they always has to clean up. I can't really see Hasbro directly releasing the comics, they are a toy company. They will probably just re-license it to DC or Marvel again and hopefully those company will have the brains to absorb some of the DW writing and artist staff.

:pfx

My question is, if this is false, then who started the rumor and why??

Funny ... I have a hard time catching the TF comics at my local shop. If I let two weeks go by the new issues are gone.

It would indeed be sad news.

I also got the Amazon e-mail notifying me that MTMTE # 2 wouldn't be available.

Should DW indeed go out of bussiness, than I sincerely hope that there will remain TF comics and that which ever company gets the license hires the writers and artist that made these comics great and is able to continue with the current story arcs. (Would be great if they hired Mick Ralph.)

I wasn't such a fan of DD GiJoe/TF crossover, so they wouldn't be my first choice.

But let's just hope that the rumor is false or that DW manages to conitnue after a re-start.

Do you mean issue #2 or Volume 2? As in, part 2 of 8? Or the book collecting issues 5-8 of the series?

Cause I ordered v2 just fine earlier in the week and they appear to have no problem filling the order.

I mean volume 2 (collecting loose issues 5-8).

I pre-ordered with Amazon UK somewhere in late september, I think. (Could also be early october.)

Got an e-mail today from Amazon stating the item wasn't available and they refunded my money.

Vol.2 of the (collection of 5-8) was at my comic store like two weeks ago. So I don't see why Amazon can't fulfill it.

I just do not get why the G1 comic sales are declining. Why would any Transformers fan not like this comic? Energon, I can understand but G1? How can any fan leave it in stores.

It is like a G1 fan who does not own the Rhino DVD box sets.

Well, I still buy the Gen1 comic, but that's it. I've dropped all the other TF comics from my pull list. Simply put, the quality on them began to suck, so I stopped buying them.

Micromasters - Ugly art, uninteresting story

Energon - Ugly art, uninteresting story

WW v3 - Ugly art, uninteresting story

Joe vs Trans 2 - ugly art, good story that went bad real fast

Trans/Joe v2 - Good art, but I really don't care about joe's at all, so I dropped it.

BW - not planning on buying since I'm not a BW fan

I don't have money to waste, and my money on these books was a waste, so I stopped buying.

And by the way, I'm a big G1 fan, but I don't own the G1 rhino dvd sets. Too expensive, and not enough extras to warrent buying, especially when I can get the dvd rips off the net for free.

Well Abraxsis, I guess we agree about Bush. We Disagree about the BW comic. As a BW fan, that comic is on top of my list.

Rumors give me headaches. Today's rumor usually ends up in the trash tomorrow. I'll wait and see on this one....

Be thankful you GET DW comics. In the Uk, only shops via diamond get them.

All I ever see are the odd 2 year old DW title in comic shops and a few Marvel compendiums in a book shop.

Here is the the average reaction to comics as experienced by me in WH Smith (a sh1tty bookstore thas now losing money is spades):

Me: what other comics u have apart from the really old Marvel/DC compendiums?

whsmisth: er..none I think..although you could check the childrens section.

Me: sorry? the comics I want are not for kids.

whsmith: er...I dont know then...are comics here are for kids..

me: like the "sandman" graphic novels you sell, which are specifically aimed at more mature audiences?

whsmith: er...sorry...

I want to buy all the collected works as I only have one (the G1 story with shockwave in it on Cybertron). Ii want to buy every TF comic in their collected works but I doint knwo anywhere in the UK that will sell them at a reasonable price....
