Rumor: Dreamwave going out of business?

Recommended Posts

what're you talking about? Don, Ng, and Milne have kickass artwork :thumb

Don't forget Guido.

They got great TF artwork, to be sure. But they do -not- do well in DW. DW has a certain house style that the lot must adhere to. And when you got a Cult of Personality leading you (Lee), that house style can't be better than his skill level.

TF comics are what is carrying DW. NOTHING else they do makes a profit. I'm sure none of their stuff breaks even besides the TF. Even then the TF comic sales have been going down every month. LESS people buy TF comics each month than the one prior. That is, obviously, not a good sign for a business.

I hope DW goes out, honestly. Let Devil's Due pick up the license with Guido and the Real Trio of Artists working for them. That will be a renassaince of TF comics then, as DD does good licensed work.

My sentiments exactly.

Wildman's style was almost unrecognizable in TWW vol. 2.

Perhaps you have a point.

The problem would be who would be getting the license? Devil's Due might not or may not have the money.

I am a Star Trek fan and I used to love the comics. Sadly the Marvel comics were cancelled :tfsad and Wildstorm never really "got going".

And Dreamwave does not publish that much comics. The fact that 2 writers left cannot be a good thing at all.

I think they are in big problems. Shame as they make kick ass comics.

I just hope someone will take over. Do not really mind who it is though I would prefer Marvel or Devil's Due.

I just do not get why the G1 comic sales are declining. Why would any Transformers fan not like this comic? Energon, I can understand but G1? How can any fan leave it in stores.

It is like a G1 fan who does not own the Rhino DVD box sets.

from what i hear from a little birdy....dreamwave is losing the license to transformers because....Hasbro is going to do their own tf comics.

Transformers is the main reason dreamwave has stayed afloat as long as it has....sad to say it, but the comic company is a one trick pony. Yes, there are a few other good comics out there like Devil May Cry (which was delayed horribly each issue.) The pay cuts and writers leaving are signs that this was coming.

so Hasbro is gonna do their own comics as part of their books series and we'll see some pretty crappy things probably until Hasbro gets it right. I do hear that Furman and Figueroa will probably stay with Hasbro since they are very close to Hasbro and have great insight on where the series should go. Who knows though.

It's not the official announcement you guys were hoping for but chances are what i said above is what's happening. Sad as it may seems because like many of you, I love Dreamwave comics even though a few out there suck complete ass. Generation 1 is the bomb and I love how it was rewritten. Great stuff.

Oh well, we'll see what happens, but don't hold your breath.

Yea, but there not as good when they are forced to try to Imitate, Pat Lee.

Can't say I'm supprised I knew this day was comming when Mick and Paytch left. Just wish at lest WW3 would have finished. Even though I knew it was comming this sucks real bad I loved the Transformer comics (and had become my favorite comics out) and hope in some form or another they continue and in the way they were going. Maybe Marvel will buy them, or maybe Hasbro will make them who knows man I wish this wasn't happening. The problem with DW was they were a one trick poney and tried to egnor that and make other comics (that I don't know of any people who bought any of there other stuff), and it killed there bussness. Well we all will just have to wait and see and if it is indeed the end of TF comics at lest it was a very fun ride while it lasted.

All I really care is that well-written and well-drawn comics are put out. I hope Dreamwave gets their sh*t together, cuz I can't get enough of their comics.

Well I wouldn't mind them merging with another parent company.

Like a few other that has stated in the thread, DW is a one trick Pony, its the Transformer license that is keeping the company afloat. DW probably ran into some cash flow problems, which lead to all the numerous delays.....no cash = no production. Maybe they can file under chapter 11 and still operate and restructure themselves. Trim off all the dead weight comic lines and focus on the cash cow, G1 comics. Even if DW does die, I think someone will absorb the license and writers, whether it be Hasbro or Marvel or who ever. It will be a shame if all the comics suddenly stopped. That is such bad PR for Hasbro, first they had the 3H Problems with OTFCC and now DW. Seems like a huge mess that they always has to clean up. I can't really see Hasbro directly releasing the comics, they are a toy company. They will probably just re-license it to DC or Marvel again and hopefully those company will have the brains to absorb some of the DW writing and artist staff.
