and you bought that? come on, that comment was made by the same guy who said we would never see 5 member gestalts again...and look what happened...

Battle Ravage would be a better example - as I recall the first pics of him were of rather poor quality taken through a shop window.

Memory really is an amazing thing...

 

Originally, charle5! of 2005 Boards (a RELIABLE source) reported "Tracks remold will be Ravage, I saw it in a prototype shop in Hong Kong".

 

Those fans who didn't know who charle5! was either said "it's a hoax" or "maybe it was a kitbash".

 

Then, some people (Remy, George [?] and Walky) photoshopped "Tracks in black with a Ravage had", as charle5! had described him.

 

The first REAL pics surfaced in an eBay auction shortly afterwards. At that point, some people still insisted "it's a kitbash".

 

And recently, some dude at 2005 still babbled something about "that rumored Ravage", only to be corrected by one of the mods: "How's that a rumor? Hasbro have pics on their site."

and of course the Shockwave / Wheeljack `kitbashes` it seems people generally only beleive what hasbro tells them ;)

Those things you have quoted don't really mean anything. Because it wasn't planned then doesn't mean it wasn't since. Also note the "willing to talk about" which doesn't necessarily mean emergency vehicles are not to be in the line, but could mean that he isn't allowed to talk about it. Besides, it might get another name if it is true.

Archer has nothing to do with Alternators though, they're completely Takara. Hasbro just imports the molds.

Actually if I remember correctly its been stated that there are 2 designers that come up with all the Alternator/Binaltech designs and transformation schemes- one American and one Japanese.

I hope it's true, and I love the idea of a cross between Smoke's and Grimy's transformation. With the feet done like Grimlock's and the chest done like SS the end product could end up looking a lot like this...

I didn't realize anyone was bashing Hasbro by just pointing out that Takara seems to be the grunt-designers for the Binaltech/Alternators, by evidence of the formal credits out there. Nor is it saying that Takara only makes the 'cool' stuff...
