RID had episodes that were self contained, and were not some part of a ongoing story.  True it did have its background plot, but every episode didnt lead into the next one, it followed the classic TV sitcom stereotype of "What happens in 30 minutes stays in 30 minutes"

That form of writing sucks. It's lazy and uncreative. It's the easy way out used by talentless hacks.

It takes a hell of a lot more effort and creativity to turn out a good, self-contained story that fits a half-hour time slot (or even a whole hour) than it does to drag a single bad story out over 4 or 5 seasons.

 

Most of Armada and Energon's "story" was already told in the first three episodes of G1 and the movie. (about 3 hours)

I hated the final ep in the Energon marathon. Optimus Supreme knocks Unicron over. Unicron gets back up. Optimus Supreme knocks him over again. Unicron gets back up. Unicron knocks Optimus Supreme over. Optimus gets back up. Over and over and over...

Yeah, but he blowed up real good, didn't he? :thumb

Let see G1, G2, BW, BM, TF movie and maybe RID to Armada, Energon, and GF.

BTW, I wanted to point out that if the "real" story is the one that came first, then that would be G1. Armada/Energon (or, if you prefer, Micron Legend and Super Link) are pale imitations of a story told 20 years ago. :thumb

Ladies & Gentlemen, it's my first time posting on this, or any site, so I'll try to make it some what intelligent. First, let's get this out of the way: BodyCount, the attention you so desperately seek has been found. You've made a random person such as myself create an account just to debate an obvious moron. Kudos to you.

 

That being said, and being a fan of the entire TF universe for the last 20 years, I find it hard to believe that these kind of rants can actually be associated with Transformers. First and foremost, Transformers are toys. No matter how much we'd all like to jump in for a ride with Sunstreaker, or perhaps even fly with Jetfire, it's not going to happen. The G1 cartoon, as for most 80's cartoons were created with one primary thought in mind: sell toys.

 

Folks my age, in their late 20's, may agree with the notion that we loved G1 because it sparked our imaginations. The fantastic stories of robots from another galaxy, here on earth, befriending humans...well, we all thought that could be us. As we all grew and continue to grow older, sometimes we forget that as adults we expect more. Our desires are no longer solely based on what our imaginations have in store for us today.

 

Yes, I could sit here & say that Armada wasn't the best, or that Energon isn't exactly my favorite. Then I can look over at a shelf and see an Armada Megatron & a Energon Sharkticon and realize that I'm being a hypocrite. Or, I can be "real" and say "Wow, 20 years later and I can still find a Transformer in a toy store...cool".

 

I think it's great that there's a forum where we can exchange ideas & debate topics on an item who's purpose is to entertain adults & children alike. I respect all of your thoughts and opinions. I don't, however, have any respect for those who feel the need to flex their internet muscles. So, to end this rather long comment.....Armadergon sucks, BodyCount. In a sense, so did G1. Just remind yourself while you walk down the isle of your local T'R'U that you're an adult fishing for attention. Perhaps instead of spending money on plastic shape shifting robots, your money would be better invested in seeking therapy to sort out your issues....just a thought.
