Design wise I really like the War within Megatron then the list going down is...

BW TM Meg

BW Meg

Energon Meg

Galaxy Force meg(hate his blowdryer~)

G1 Galvatron

G1 Megatron

TM2 Meg

RID megatron

BW Neo Galvatron

BW2 Meg. (combiner)

Armada Megatron

G2 Tank Meg.

B.Machine Meg. (err, the head)

BW Megatron was a seriously awesome villian.

But someone refresh my memory:

Wasn't BW Megatron acting on a plan layed out by G1 Megs on the golden disc? And, if so, doesn't that give G1 Megs the title by default?

Deciding which Megs was the most efficient leader is a different question from deciding which is your fave. I for one love the really insane villains, hence my love for the G1 comics Megatron. The more insane he got, the better. And Simon Furman did all sorts of things to mess with him-- (comic spoilers) --- meeting Galvatron, getting fused with Ratchet, etc...

Crazy G1 Meggy forever! And his toy rocked too... one of the best G1 toys of all.

I don't know if the ENTIRE plan was layed out, but the fact G1 Megatron was smart enough to plan for his eventual defeat says alot more then the fact BW/BM Megatron was too full of himself to bother with. :tflaugh

I'm gonna say G1 Megs cause I get a free post count for it and it tends to piss off Anti-G1 board members for some unknown reason.

In the comic, partially insane. Cartoon, not at all (until Galvatron.)

Galvatron, yes. Course Beast Wars Megatron was stupid enough to KILL two of his.

Beast Wars Megatron didn't succeed either, yet you don't knock him for it.  :tftongue

Depends on which animation you look at.

Killing someone in a coma isn't cheating?

He was more successful then BM Megatron.

At the end of Beast Wars, his entire army had either been killed or defected and he was a prisoner of the Maximals. Successful? I think not.  :tftongue

Energon Megatron does seem to have everything going in his favor. Controlling Unicron is quite an achievement.

I'd rate

G1 Megatron

A/E Megatron

BM Megatron

RiD Megatron

BW Megatron

Your points countered, point by point:

Comic Megs is fully insane after he gets overthrown. Cartoon Megs' sanity can be argued. A sane person, for example, would shoot their nemesis they been fighting for four million years. Not chop them up into parts to give to your minions to turn into an alligator. And it can not be refuted that megalomania is a personality disorder.

BW Megs didn't kill two of his minions (talking of Terrorsaur and Scorponok now) but yes, he did let them die as a result of his plans. Inferno as well died in the service. But not because Megatron BW tossed a fist or fusion cannon at them. G1 Megs however, beat apart Starscream almost daily, blasting him all the time.

BW Megs -attacked- the Ark. G1 Megs didn't even bother at all. Not even with the Bots 'dead'. BW Megs attacked AND KILLED Optimus. If you call that a failure to attack the Ark, then there's a logical gap going on.

Which animation we look at? We look at the movie. Same movie we all see. Megs dies. Gets thrown off and abandoned. Gonna refute something you can state empirically as happening or not? And no, killing someone in a coma isn't cheating since the person can't be woken up for 4 million years anyway. What, you want him to have honor and sit in the Ark a few millenia for the Bots to wake up to blast 'em? That'd be a boring show!

Success isn't measured in how many people you have left. Did BW Megatron accomplish what HE sought to? Yes. Did Tarantulas? Seems so. The fact that half or more of BW Megs army were MAXIMALS to begin with and he had to force into his service gives him points also for having them in the army and for so long. The Predacons were not an army. They were a buncha criminals with their own personal agendas that all sought their own plans. Usually that includes taking off BW Meg's head, and they never succeed at it.

Besides, I still don't see anyone refuting the fact that BW Megs, even though he was captured at the end of BW, STILL took over his entire planet AND accomplished everything that all the incarnations of Megatron has dreamed of. And is the ONLY one to do so!

Not sure about the comic, never read it. Starting with the cartoon, where Megs didn't destroy Prime's body after awakening, well... Prime was already "dead" wasn't he? Just because it never crossed his mind to desecrate the body shouldn't be a minus.

Then in the later ep where he finally caught Prime, he "killed" Prime, and to make sure, had the body chopped up. Okay, maybe keeping the head as a keepsake is a little sick.

Megalomania as a personality disorder? But... just about every Decepticon, and certainly all the Megatrons are guilty of that, aren't they? Pretty much why they're villains. Nothing wrong with megalomania, in a cartoon villain context.

G1 Megs also never beat up Starscream almost daily. Far as I can recall, he only laid hands on Starscream twice, probably 3 or 4, just to be safe. First was in the More Than Meets the Eye eps I think. Starscream shot at Megs in a power play, Megs blocked with a forcefield, then grabbed Screamer around the neck, but let him go with a warning.

Second time was in Starscream's Brigade, Starscream shot Megs in the back and declared himself the leader of the Decepticons, but Megs got back up and shot him back. True, they did fight it out after Starscream got his Combaticons, but that's hardly considered bullying.

Erm, in regards to BW Megs attacking and killing Op, G1 Megs did that as well, in the movie. They had a pretty even fight, though Op edged him out of course, but he managed to recover when the opportunity presented itself. Certainly, not honorable, but hey, it's a battle. Of course, there's absolutely nothing wrong with what BW Megs did either, but it certainly wasn't anymore honorable.

Finally, G1 Megs did indeed, conquer Cybertron. True, there was still a resistance. But the Decepts had already won over Cybertron at the beginning of the series, Presumably, Shockwave stamped out any remaining resistance in Meg's absense, then went on to govern over it for about 4 million years, tempered with the occasion female Autobot acts of terrorism. But until the end of the movie, the Decepts were in firm control of Cybertron.

That's not to take anything away from BW Megs of course, he did retake Cybertron from the Maximals. But he wasn't the only Megatron to have done so.

In terms of personal power, I'd say Energon Megs.

In terms of accomplishments, well, that's tough. If you consider the epitome of accomplishment as having taken over Cybertron, then both BW Megs and G1 Megs have done so. Heck, I think in a recent Energon ep, Energon Megs has as well.

So... while I'm not a fan of Energon Megs, I'll have to say, in terms of the 'big' accomplishments, he's done the best so far, thanks to having temporarily taken control of Unicron. Admittedly, he almost immediately got mind-jacked and Unicron's body got destroyed before he could do anything with it, but at least he got to blow up random planets during that short period.

If Armada Megs had taken Optimus' hand and gotten his ass saved, he would have had to admit he lost and would become a sorry excuse for a decepticon leader. What great commander would give up what he stands for, in return for his own life? It would be spineless and he'd be a mockery within his own ranks. Furthermore Megatron couldn't have led the decepticons for another 52 eps, now would he? It's safe to say that Megatron deserved respect for having the robotic equivalent of guts when he nearly died in Unicrons belly.

Coolest Megatron? BW Megatron, because.

Coolest Decepticon? Overlord. He 'n Majin Zarak got several earth cities destroyed for the sole purpose of getting Ginrai and his buddies out of their hiding and is by any means a mass murderer. Yay.

I dunno if I'd called Overlord a Decepticon leader, since he was always under Devil Z, but, he's certainly my fave. Pity that he became more and more beatable as the series went on, but nonetheless, his first fight against Ginrai rocked most verily.

Overloard sorta Became a Destron Leader in Victory-just in a diferent secter than Dezarus, he had a camio of the surviving Master Force Detrons fighting the Cybertron Headmasters
