The best Megatron

Recommended Posts

In the comic, partially insane. Cartoon, not at all (until Galvatron.)

Galvatron, yes. Course Beast Wars Megatron was stupid enough to KILL two of his.

Beast Wars Megatron didn't succeed either, yet you don't knock him for it. :tftongue

Depends on which animation you look at.

Killing someone in a coma isn't cheating?

He was more successful then BM Megatron.

At the end of Beast Wars, his entire army had either been killed or defected and he was a prisoner of the Maximals. Successful? I think not. :tftongue

Energon Megatron does seem to have everything going in his favor. Controlling Unicron is quite an achievement.

I'd rate

G1 Megatron

A/E Megatron

BM Megatron

RiD Megatron

BW Megatron

Your points countered, point by point:

Comic Megs is fully insane after he gets overthrown. Cartoon Megs' sanity can be argued. A sane person, for example, would shoot their nemesis they been fighting for four million years. Not chop them up into parts to give to your minions to turn into an alligator. And it can not be refuted that megalomania is a personality disorder.

BW Megs didn't kill two of his minions (talking of Terrorsaur and Scorponok now) but yes, he did let them die as a result of his plans. Inferno as well died in the service. But not because Megatron BW tossed a fist or fusion cannon at them. G1 Megs however, beat apart Starscream almost daily, blasting him all the time.

BW Megs -attacked- the Ark. G1 Megs didn't even bother at all. Not even with the Bots 'dead'. BW Megs attacked AND KILLED Optimus. If you call that a failure to attack the Ark, then there's a logical gap going on.

Which animation we look at? We look at the movie. Same movie we all see. Megs dies. Gets thrown off and abandoned. Gonna refute something you can state empirically as happening or not? And no, killing someone in a coma isn't cheating since the person can't be woken up for 4 million years anyway. What, you want him to have honor and sit in the Ark a few millenia for the Bots to wake up to blast 'em? That'd be a boring show!

Success isn't measured in how many people you have left. Did BW Megatron accomplish what HE sought to? Yes. Did Tarantulas? Seems so. The fact that half or more of BW Megs army were MAXIMALS to begin with and he had to force into his service gives him points also for having them in the army and for so long. The Predacons were not an army. They were a buncha criminals with their own personal agendas that all sought their own plans. Usually that includes taking off BW Meg's head, and they never succeed at it.

Besides, I still don't see anyone refuting the fact that BW Megs, even though he was captured at the end of BW, STILL took over his entire planet AND accomplished everything that all the incarnations of Megatron has dreamed of. And is the ONLY one to do so!

Well, ALL Megatrons seem to suffer from some type(s) of personality disorder, but cartoon Megatron was not Galvatron nor comic levels of insane.

BW Megs didn't kill two of his minions (talking of Terrorsaur and Scorponok now) but yes, he did let them die as a result of his plans.

Yeah, his plan not to build a floor and just fly over lava in carts.

Inferno as well died in the service

AND Quickstrike were both killed, as in, DEAD: end of story by BW Megatron.

But not because Megatron BW tossed a fist or fusion cannon at them. G1 Megs however, beat apart Starscream almost daily, blasting him all the time.

But he was always repaired by next episode (until the movie)

Both attacked the Ark, G1 Megatron assulted, infiltrated and even destroyed it (as Galvatron) he just didn't when they were helpless because, they were proving no obstacle so why waste energy (which he even chided Starscream for.)

Which animation we look at?

When Megatron is standing over Prime he looks fine, but the closeup shows damage that wasn't there earlier, it was just a little "joke" point.

G1 Megatron didn't die though, in fact he was pretty far from death.

Still, I find blasting someone from behind a hostage as "less cheating" then killing them in their sleep.

Did BW Megatron accomplish what HE sought to? Yes.

No, in Beast Wars he wanted to find Energon and reconquer Cybertron. At the end of Beast Wars he was a prisoner of the enemy.

In Beast Machines he wanted to purge all organics from Cybertron, at the end he was dead and the planet was still half organic.

They were a buncha criminals with their own personal agendas that all sought their own plans. Usually that includes taking off BW Meg's head, and they never succeed at it.

Except Terrorsaur, who blew Megatron apart.

Besides, I still don't see anyone refuting the fact that BW Megs, even though he was captured at the end of BW, STILL took over his entire planet AND accomplished everything that all the incarnations of Megatron has dreamed of. And is the ONLY one to do so!

BM Megatron only had control of 99.99% of the planet (don't forget Nightscream) while Megatron (as far as we can determine) had full control of Cybertron with ZERO Autobot presence on the planet proper.

-G1, Megatron had control of Cybertron scence MTMTE

-Armada Megatron had gained control of Cybertronin the short time it took for the Autobot's Aaxalon to catch up

-Energon Galvatron(I know its the same guy) went fro having his troops in jail to achieving G1 Megatrons dream(Cybertron as a war world) in almoast nothing flat.

-RID Megatron errr.... we don't care about him b/c his isn't realy a Megatron his names Gigatron!

So much of the Image I Maintain of G1 Megatron is from the Animation. Yeah, after repeated viewings Later & later down the (time)line, The Original Decepticon Leader does lose some Credibility. But he's One Bad Guy I'll never forget...

No matter how Many times his plots Failed, How bad he was beaten, He always seemed like the Baddest, Most Evil Mother (T)F'r Around!!!

G1 megs

BW Megs (...) sets the evolution of the human race back by centuries

Actually, no!

BW Megatron's attack on the early humans helped their evolution. By spreading from that valley (gorge?) they lived in, they went out and encountered new things allowing them to grow in experiences and learn to adapt to a new/different environment (which is what evolution is all about). Furthermore, because one of them saw Dinobot use a stone and stick hammer when he defended the early humans, they started using weapons and the general consensus is that the use of tools/weapons is one of the greatest evolutionary steps made by early man.

Other than that, I agree. BW Megatron was IMO also the best of the Megatron's. He was brilliant, cared very little about anything, and had many cool lines.

Armada Megatron may have done some impressive things, I will never respect him as a Megatron after his action in the last episode of the Armada cartoon. When he's hanging above the mouth of Unicron Optimus offers to safe him. What Megatron should've done is grab Prime's hand and make sure both of them fall into Unicron. What he does do, however, is decline and sprouting some nonsense about Prime's troops needing him and he subsequently sacrifices himself. :tdown

Just a refresh....

G1 Megatron, cartoon and toywise the best ever.

If Armada Megs had taken Optimus' hand and gotten his ass saved, he would have had to admit he lost and would become a sorry excuse for a decepticon leader. What great commander would give up what he stands for, in return for his own life? It would be spineless and he'd be a mockery within his own ranks. Furthermore Megatron couldn't have led the decepticons for another 52 eps, now would he? It's safe to say that Megatron deserved respect for having the robotic equivalent of guts when he nearly died in Unicrons belly.

Coolest Megatron? BW Megatron, because.

Coolest Decepticon? Overlord. He 'n Majin Zarak got several earth cities destroyed for the sole purpose of getting Ginrai and his buddies out of their hiding and is by any means a mass murderer. Yay.

BW Megatron - he played chess while the other Megatrons were playing checkers.

As for toys, not sure if it qualifies as a 'Megatron', but I'm partial to BW2 Galvatron, followed closely by RiD Megatron (I like Galvy's robot mode slightly better, his tank mode is better than any and all vehicle modes of Megs, and his dragon mode, while far short of TM2 Meg's, is still a little better than the akward 2-headed monster of RiD Megs). After those two, I'd have to go with Hero Megs' mold (colors and stickers were G2-ish and the accordian launcher needs to be removed, but it was a great mold otherwise). GF Megs has a great robot mode (though not as good as BW2 Galvy or RiD Megs), but his alt modes kind of lack. E. Megs looks good as a robot, but the articulation is OK at best, the arm-mounted tank isn't good, his shoulder-mounted tubes would be much better were they able to point farther down so that he could point his arm where he was firing, his sword lacking a handle sucks, his alt mode is uninspired, etc. G2 (big) Megs looks great in either mode (at least once the stickers are removed) but his articulation was poor. Armada Megs had a good looking robot mode, and that was about it (I can't accept an H-shaped battle tank and his articulation was bad). G1 Megs made for a great gun, but his robot mode was terrible. BW organic rex Megs was good, nothing really bad about it, but not great. TM Megs just never appealed to me. TM2 Megs had an awesome dragon mode, but his robot mode was just OK. BM Megs (dragon) was just a drastically inferior rehash of TM2 Megs, and the other BM Megs transformed into a head, which I just can't see as a legitimate alt mode. I'm probably missing a few, but that's all that comes to mind.
