Sonicron

Recommended Posts

I paid the price's for FP's Rodimus, Magnus Armor, and Warbot. And I'm glad I did. When it comes to Sonicron though, there is something about it that makes me question it. probably the aesthetics. As I can't get over the huge chest and the tiny waist. That is really the only reason why I haven't bought it.

I received my Sonicron today. First off, if I'd had paid $60 for this guy, I would have returned him and demanded my money back.

For a 3rd party try, it's a good figure, however, the QC on this guy really leaves much to be desired. He is loose, with limbs flailing around. I had to tighten up a few screws, but that didn't take away all the looseness of his arms and legs. I think I might have to try the super glue/nail polish trick with him to tighten up his ball joints.

As far as transformation....I really couldn't tell you. I tried to transform him a couple times, but was worried I'd snap the figure in half. He really feels delicate. The overall plastic is good, however the piece which folds to make up his "back shelf" piece feels too loose and too weak, as if if could easily break.

His legs feel like the could break as well, so as far as transforming him, I think I'll try it some day, but i want to enjoy looking at him hanging out with his Decepticon buddies for the time being.

He is a worthy effort and although I think paying $29 for him was a bit much, I'm not as pissed off I would be had I paid the original $60 price tag. He looks good with my Classics/Universe/etc... figures. I tried Universe Ravage and it's a tight fit, which didn't allow the door to shut. However, I tried G1 Ravage (and Laserbeak) fit perfectly in his chest.

I will eventually add a Decepticon symbol to him so he can officially join the ranks. I have had my Titanium Soundwave sit in as my Classic Soundwave, while my WFC Soundwave sits on my other shelf with my Generations/Season 3 Classics figures.

He could have been so much better had his loose limbs been taken care of before he was shipped to retailers.

Guess I just saved some money, I'da rather get the Music Label Soundwave and Soundblaster. Might buy the White Soundwave for my Shattered Universe shelf

But definitely glad I didn't pick this figure up

I really don't like the way that Shattered Glass Soundwave looks....

I agree on ML Soundwave though, I would love to pick that guy up someday....

Music Label Soundwave, especially with the Reprolabels for him, looks fantastic with my Classics figures.

Of course, I suppose at $30, Sonicron would be the more econimical choice, where as good luck finding a sonic blue Music Label soundwave for anything less then $100, if not more.

Definitely like the Music Label Soundwave, I've seen him for less then a $100 total also. I'll more then likely pick him up along with Soundblaster with my tax return. Hopefully find a Sunstorm for cheap also

as $45 is too much for a knock off

I'm bout to break it down!

Music Label is the best out of everything mentioned here. He's a perfect size, perfect transformation, perfect aethestics... just about perfect everything. My only complain is having extra pieces (like hands). More crap to lose. I have the Spark Blue and a MISB Blaster Black versions. I'll get Sonic White eventually, just a bit pricey atm.

The Botcon Shattered Glass SW is iffy for me. On one hand, I love the character and his portrayal in the comics as far as looks go. The figure itself just seems to have an off head to me. No translucent headlights makes the painted lime green stand out way too much. The Zartan reference is cool and all but not something that resonates with me personally. (Love JOEs, but not sure why they went with Zartan. SG Soundwave isn't a master of disguise or a bad guy :/ )

WFC is the best non-G1-reissue, Hasbro Soundwave. Of all time. If he had come with a minion it would've upped his awesomeness 100% though.

Sonicron. I got one as a gift so I can't complain about the price but for the record I refused to pay the $60. I like the concept of it but I didnt like the feet, the seemingly giant chest and as the rest of you guys ascertained: him being a 3rd party product meant less then stellar plastic or QC. He may just stay in his box.

PeurtoRICAN you really are missing out. Yeah some of the 3rd party items are way too pricey but some of them are REALLY worth it. Warbot is the best 3rd party product I own. Perfect Effects Shadow Warriors and other "updates" to cassettes are great. I can't speak for Eject or Rewind but I hear good things. Avoid Kingbat however, theres not much to him other then looks. He is actually overpriced and unjustified for it. Partforming, no articulation, flimsy plastic, etc. Its my main concern and reason I havent bought Laser and Buzzer. Also I hear the Reflector guys are nice.

Oh! And the Casuality guys! Havent opened them yet but they look EPIC in their boxes! Hooray for gifts!

Side note: Saw a beat up G1 Soundwave and Buzzsaw in my comic book store for sale today. $100 will net you a beaten up classic. Woo.

I figure for $200 I'll have both Blue Soundwave and Soundblaster not in a hurry for the White. As I would rather buy the Butcher upgrade for one of my Universe Onslaughts. If Sonicron ends up on the next Clearance list from BBTS then I might get him price dependent. But he is a low maybe along with the Xovergen Grand Patriot. I've heard nothing but bad about him. Still need to get the Predaking upgrades So mine will look even more bad ass.

As a married father of two children (both under 18 months), with two mortgages and a wife who is a stay at home mom.....it's kind of hard for me to justify (to my wife at least) spending $100 on a 3rd Party transformers toy add-on/upgrade....those Fansproject sets do look awesome. Hopefully, I can sell my house in NY in the spring and treat myself to something nice. It just isn't in the budget. :tfsad

I also read that Rolling Thunder Prime (Xovergen Grand Patriot) figure was bad...read reviews and saw youtibe videos on it. It does look cool, but from what I remember, it too suffered from floppiness and poor QC. I wouldn't mind getting it if it was discounted tremendously.

I got 3 kids myself and a stay at home wife, so the only time I really have money is tax return or when I get back from Deployment. Hopefully that will change by the end of next year. I just save a little at a time until I have enough for what I want, Which is why I still haven't bought Warcry and Flameblast

RK has the Grand Patriot on Close out but even at $49 that seems to be too much for me to pay for it. I'd rather spend the $60 for the Upgrade wings for my Predaking
