Takara vs Hasbro

For me, I collect both Takara & Hasbro. I can’t really say I like one more than the other. And for price, with the exception of the Binal-Techs and Masterpiece Prime, don’t they really cost about the same? $35.00 range for the Takara book style reissues???? That’s about the same price for the commemorative reissues at my TRU. Both charge a little extra for the bigger figures. Now what I do like about Takara is that they have figures that Hasbro will never make (Megatron, Soundwave, Stepper?), and they also usually release the Takara versions before the Hasbro versions. Having said that, if I couldn’t afford both Takara & Hasbro, I don’t know which I would choose. My TRU sucks. They never have anything stocked on the release dates, so I usually end up buying Hasbro over the internet anyways. I even own stock in Hasbro, and I don’t know if I would choose them over Takara. I guess I like them both equally!

Like one guy said, its your money, buy whatever you like best. I usually buy Hasbro for one reason: availability. When it came to Alt Hound, this issue was reversed so I bought Takara. But had the Alt version made of all plastic for $20 been sitting on a shelf next to the BT version with only about 4 or 5 major parts being die cast for $50, which do you think I'd have bought?

From which company do MOST of your TF's come from?

That is a wrong poll. You should have a poll on which company do I prefer. I PREFER Takara but I don't live in Japan so I buy Hasbro.

Why: Takara's stuff is better quality and the reissues aren't retardedfied. If there is such a word. If not, then I just invented it.

Maybe Im missing something, maybe you know something I dont, but what exactly is 'retardified' about the reissues? Like some specific examples. BTW, that word may sound made up, but I like it, and will use it myself. I can think of a whole mob of people at work Im gonna use it on....

:tflaugh :tflaugh :tflaugh

It is retardedfied that the U.S. reissues have non working missles, altered parts, and no chrome. Also, they the U.S. will not be seeing reissue megatron and such.

It sucks but its the law :( Really its not that bad of a thing as if those alterations prevent even one child from choking its worth it, after all a human life is alot more important :thumb

One thing I don't like about Hasbro is their assortments. With Takara, there is really no such thing as shortpacks since they sell each figure by sets. Some retailers hate the Hasbro assortments because they are forced to get figures that probably won't sell as well. So if Takara releases Arcee, they would release boxes of her, unlike in Hasbro's case that you will have to wait for Wave 4 or 3.5 before the Wave 3 figs become widely available. Heck, even in places brimming with TFs like the U.S., a lot of the newer figures are pretty hard to come by.

i think the it is quite unfair to compare takara with hasbro if many people vote for hasbro just because of hasbro's convenience and accessibility. a comparisson should be made based on the product, not convenience, or it wouldn't be a level-playing field for takara.

oh...so i guess you are also happy about the fact that Megatron is banned in US, for the sake of not letting someone pretend that he or she has a real gun....
