Takara vs Hasbro

Recommended Posts

Don't give a fig. I collect specific ones regardless of how they number them. If anything I am sick of these multilinguel packages, yeah I am talking about Hasbro. It covers up the package/box art and looks cluttered and cheap.

Did anybody notice how Hasbro makes a "habit" of applying the faction insignia to TFs that weren't necessarily there in the Takara mold. A great example would be RiD TFs. Most of them had Autobot insignias, like Optimus Prime had them on his Battle Mode shoulder pads on the Hasbro release, but the Takara release of Fire Convoy, his shoulder pads had no Autobot insignia, the only place that had them was on the Battle Mode chest, with the little panel that flips up.

yes, the whole R.I.D. Optimus Prime having the Autobot insignias on his shoulder pads contradicts the phrase "Robots in Disguise" because the Autobot insignia is noticeable in his vehicle mode.

And yes, Hasbro for some reason loves adding colors that the characters in the show don't have. For example, R.I.D. Ironhide has bright red on the rear of his vehicle mode. There was no need to do that but hey, go figure...

Other great examples of this are Armada Wheeljack. Why in Primus' name did Hasbro give him yellow paint applications on the hood of his vehicle mode? A mystery is all I can say.

Personally, I thought the chromed Autobot insignias were one of the coolest things about the RiD toys. It set them apart somehow. The Hasbro heat-stamped insignias seemed redundant to me.

Although I have to admit that RiD Prowl is a favorite b/c of the Autobot insignia on his hood... just reminds me of G1 days, I guess.

Who really makes Transformers. I'm a little confused.  I thought Takara made them and then Hasbro just sold them over here and changed em up a little.  But at Botcon the Hasbro guys were talking about designing some of the figures and making them.  So who does the credit belong to?

Hasbro does the concept Sketches and takara Engeniers them. Thier are exceptions such as Wingsaber who was designed soley by takara, and the Energon Dinobots who were a solo effort by Hasbro. All the molds from 84/85 were designed exclusivly by Takara, as were the japan exclusive molds.

Credit goes to both.

Credit goes to both.....I believe they work as together as well as two companies can.

Credit goes to both.

Or in some cases  *BLAME* :tfevil

its sorta crazy we blame hasbro for all the crapy TF's(ala energon ironhide) but Energon slugslinger and sharkey were 100% hasbro and the brick known as wing sabre was all takaras doing yet we still always blame hasbro for the crap stuff and prase takara for all the good stuff

(thats about as pro hasbro as ive ever been)
