How messed up is it that a Leader would cost more than a Masterpiece...

Actually the Australian Dollar is currently stronger than the US dollar (and has been that way since late last year) - but in spite of this, our stuff is getting more expensive (greedy retailers, grrr!). The AUD is currently worth 1.03USD, which is the lowest it's been for a while.

+1. And a Classicsverse comic and/or cartoon series wouldn't be bad either. ;) Seriously, look how popular these lines have been without a comic or cartoon series to support it... I'd be all over a Classics comic/cartoon like a cheap hooker on Charlie Sheen.

Wouldn't the IDW G1 series count as a Classics comic? They're meant to be the same characters, at least. Of course, it wouldn't matter to me; I don't read (new) comics these days. I haven't "outgrown" them - I just hate what the comic industry is doing. So I pick up reprints and read old stuff from my collection.

 

As for a cartoon, I think that it'd end up feeling like Animated or Prime, but with G1/Classics character designs. Which might work, but what would be the point? Even if done well, it wouldn't really be G1, just a copy, no different than Animated or RiD, just with G1-ish designs.

 

OTOH, just because I hate how the characters are handled in the comics, doesn't mean the cartoon creators can't get it "right" (in quotes because I admit this is purely subjective). Considering how G1ish DOTH felt in plot & tone, I wonder how the writer for the movie, or even better the novel, Peter David, would do on a G1 reboot?
