Angry Hasbro Rant

Totally blowing off HA Mudflap, now the g1 Legends and probably the last RTS voyager wave which pretty much nobody at all ever saw...that gets hard to swallow. Little sign that the new PCC figs will ever come out either. As usual, just as they appear to really be getting good.

Then to see a new Skids figure being made for DOTM, of course a BB repaint and STILL no word we'll ever see that HA Mudflap.

Dude I do have to tell you HA Mudflap did come out, he even showed up at TJ Maxx as well as Marshalls.

Just clearing this one up

Yeah, but again that falls under the nearly non-existent heading. Yeah, some people lucked out, but I lived in those stores for a month and saw every other HA figure except for Mudflap and as far as the other 30-40 or so local collectors who are really good at helping each other out go, none of them reported any better.

Unless more come pouring out at some point, there were apparently an extremely few to go around. In fact I'd venture to guess a lot less than most every other short run figure we've seen.

Well, I live in California and have not seen the latest Gen/RTS/PCC waves at all. :shrug

I searched for 3 whole months, 3 I tell ya to find Perceptor, Wreck-gar, G2 Prime, Kup, and Scourge before I said screw it and ordered them from BBTS. Wheeljack, and Thundercracker were ordered in the set with Kup and Scourge, BONUS.

Did you get ahold of RtS Windcharger and Warpath? You'll want those to complete the whole Generations/Universe/Classic line-up

Well unless Hasbro re released him in DOTM, I doubt you will see him in retail stores again, I also think its time to expand local hunting into a national effort. Since Hasbro is not sending the figures everywhere

I gave the matter thought and came up the only idea that could really help in the area of keeping newer and more fresh product on the shelves. Hasbro needs to use their reps to track their hottest toy lines better.

For the hottest lines, which I'm guessing are all heavily collector oriented, they should simply come equipped with checklists to do counts on individual figures still on pegs. When put together, they could get a really good idea which ones sold better and which ones weren't so hot. That way they can plan future case assortments more accurately to hopefully boost the sales, and of course keep the shelves packed with the product people want. Not keep shipping the same figures already starting to clog out in the next 2 or 3 assortments so even more can pile up.

What also may help is if every wave were all new figs, nothing from previous case assortments. Later on the road, they can always use various methods of market research to figure out which ones need another go around and which ones don't. Then they simply pack various assortments of figures from all waves. That way, you still get your chance if you missed it sooner and the numbers they pack can be closer to realistic for each figure.

Why not get a little surgical with this? I mean, it's only money!!!

Long term, this could give the designers and everyone down the line at Hasbro a greater understanding of what does and doesn't work through better knowing how figures sold individually. When you can really study those most successful figures they can get a better insight into those qualities people want and in turn get better at making more.

Then again, I'm old school. I like to think things out a bit and consider the big picture. These days the big picture is capturing the quick bucks with least pain...so thinking things out properly isn't exactly the #1 priority in most companies.

The problem with that logic is that hasbro plans out the waves months in advance and starts work to produce those figures in the required amounts and therefore one figure can't be increased to replace what would be a slower seller.. They also cannot afford to plan out repaints x, y, and z, but only end up selling x because that mold has sold the best.

Yes, hasbro can pull some boneheaded moves sometimes (always releasing the best toys at the end of a line), but their purpose is to sell toys to kids who might not even care about warpath, let alone know if the toy exists.

I said it before and I'll say it again. I really think Hasbro just likes pissing off fanboys :shrug

Sometimes I think they plan on it in board meetings. LOL!

"Bronstein, do you have the graph on the demand of Thundercracker and the graph on Fan-Boy dissapointment? The graph on Fan-Boy dissapointment in 90% full this year! Congratulations, people! WE DID IT! Caviar and champagne for everyone!" LOL!

Ever since I moved to Florida, it seems my "hunts" haven't been as plentiful compared to when I lived in New York.....I searched for months to find RTS Jazz and was shocked to finally see him in a Walgreens a few weeks ago....Normally, my old Target in New York State always had new figures in stock..here, it's hit or miss, but mostly miss.....

I hear you there but the thing is finding them in Walgreens with the movie prices and all. ...Meh. Maybe it could be worse. Maybe my last bastion of hope is Walgreens? (Kinda like paying for Hobby Store prices though) :)

Totally agree with the OP. I used to love "the hunt", and the thrill of finding that figure I'd been looking for for weeks. Lately, everywhere I go there's nothing but RTS Laser Prime and Mindset, so I've started to lose interest. I've pretty much given up on ever finding a Warpath in stores.
