New Looks at Transformers Dark of the Moon Deluxe Dread and Starscream

Recommended Posts

Considering the vast difference between the voyager SS and leader SS, the deluxe looks half way decent. Looks better then the first movie voyager SS haha. I think both are slightly mistransformed so I'll hold off making a full judgement until we get something a lil better (*crosses fingers*). Although I do have one nagging thing about the dread ...

it would be cool if they were a insecticon homage. i guess its the pincers.

You can polish a turd but it;s still a turd :poop .....wait let me put a smiley face beside it to spruce it up :poop :D......nope. i still see a turd.

That's the problem, how does one decide that something that still has months until release is a "turd". Hasbro has plenty of time to make changes to the mold and improve upon it, besides just because you don't like something does not mean that everyone dislikes it.

Also I would like to point out that these figures will not be hitting stores until around June. So its quite possible they haven't gotten all of their paint apps yet, since the release is still about 5 months away...

:poop

in regards the DOTM deluxe Starscream, well when i take the whole "it doesn't look like movie starscream" mind set out of the picture, the toy does look like an ok deluxe jetbot. But the damn ugly weapons are so "era of energon".

Okay, I'll admit I got like, two or three really cool weapons out of Energon that I moved to other toys.

Energon Barricade (Onslaught!) got Starscream's Stupid oversized assault rifle, and more recently my animated Arcee has inherited Cruel-lock's little green Hand-Cannon.

But yeah, beyond that? Most Energon weapons were just TACKY... :/ Why, oh why must THAT trend be the one to rise from the grave?

Hellscream seems to have literally dropped the weight. Just not in his lower body....

Uh..dude...I don't think pretty colors are gonna save these awful toys.

Like we said, you can't polish a turd

Paint apps won't mean shit. PROPORTIONS are where it counts. Sure you can make it have amazingly realistic colors, but the toy will still look like shit for its awful proportions.

Lastly, why are you saying Hasbro is against leeks? Why would they care about a vegetable? They make toys

Honestly, Activators Starscream is much better than DOTM Deluxe Starscream, hopefully it's a mistransformation

This is why Hasbro doesn't like leeks and has been so critical lately... because these sellers release very bad quality pictures of the "leeked" figures

Hasbro has always hated Leeks. Hasbro much prefers shallots or green onion, when available.

im definatly not a fan of this mechtech gimmick.

only one ive seen that actually works was on the voyager megatron.

thing is transformers already have a gimmick, THEY TRANSFORM!!!

Didn't they also, like, have the ability to combine?

Honestly Combiners were some of the most popular things out there, and it's been forever since it's been done right. All we've had are Energon Powerlink combiners which were pretty lame, PCC which are just sad, and....don't want to say it......ROTF Devastator...

The G1 combiners were awesome, how is it they can't do the same thing in 2011 but with more articulation and detailing to them? :tfsad

It gets even sadder when you consider that fansproject pulled it off with the Explorer and Munitioner; I mean, sure they went quite a long way in a sense that perhaps Hasbro wouldn't dare due to how much money they would lose, but that said, it's still a real shame that the Energon combiners had those half assed 'limbs' when they could've had something much better.

Anyway, regarding the two figs...they look like crap...gimmick or no gimmick, deluxe or not, they look like crap.

Hell, the WFC deluxes and the Generations line as a whole had NO extra gimmicks and are incredibly awesome...EXACTLY for that!! Why are these movie figures so obsessed with gimmicks? Transforming high poseable and detailed robots aren't doing it anymore?

I guess it's just easier to make a toy commercial for 5 year olds about a big, loud, flashy gimmick than about something understated and high quality.

I mean can you imagine a saturday morning toy commercial that doesn't have crap-tacular "I um Obdimus Brime" lights and sounds, and probably some goldfish-bowl rocks strewn everywhere so some nonsense plastic missile can knock Megatron off a Styrofoam cliff into a waste basket or something?

TRY to imagine a toy commercial that JUST shows off how detailed, articulated and well constructed a toy is; it's impossible.

Granted WE would respond to something like that, but Hasbro isn't going to bank on what would appeal to more refined intellects; they wanna SELL TOYS, dang it!

And as long as that's the case, there's always the probability that we're going to git bigger, louder, easier to FILM gimmicks over the most basic and awesome gimmick of all; the one that's actually the NAME of the SERIES.

Yeah, I know what you say.

I mean, when I was a kid I actually preferred nice looking simple toys, never really cared for any gimmicks.

You know, I was that strange kid who actually cared for his toys and never lost a single piece of any of them.
