BBTS Confirms New Takara Tomy Predaking Release

Recommended Posts

Our good friend Joel from BigBadToyStore.com has sent us a note letting us know the Predaking 2010 Reissue Box Set has been confirmed for release. They have posted a pre-order page for the set at the same retail price of $179.00 USD with a release time frame of fourth quarter 2010. This is the same figure we told you about this morning as part of Takara's Welcome to Transformers 2010 campaign. Check out the listing for more details and pre-ordering at BigBadToyStore.com Read the Full News Story Here

Sweet! Consider this preordered. :yay

Predaking is awesome, but $180 is a real steep price.

I do want to get a second one, but will wait to see what some of the asain retailers have it for.

In all honestly it should only be about $125 or so at the most.

and Omega supreme, Sky Lynx, and Metroplex just went for well under $100 last year.

Theres inflation mark ups in the world, I understand that. But theresalso "highway robbery" and I understand that too.

I would like the figure, same way I'd like the retooled Unicron, but I'm not being taken for a ride on them.

Gotta draw a line on these things someplace. They can get rich off someone else. I'll hunt for a better deal.

BBTS also has the Comicon Blaster set preordered for $90 EACH! That's almost a 100% mark up from the Comicon and Hasbro Toy Shop online price...now this being so high? They're getting a little carried away. I'll definitely wait and see with this one...

The D-78 New Years Reissue went for about $100 IIRC. That was 2005.

Don't forget about the current currency conversion rates, too. Those can really send a price soaring. (I've had some import orders(more than one item, though.) from Japan end up $20 to $30 more due to the conversion rate for the day it's charged.)

Yeah, I understand some concerns about the price being way to high but being that the last Transformer I have bought myself was back in September 2009 (Insecticon TRU reissue set) and I only collect G1 Transformers, I am not stressing about the price so much. Besides, this is still cheaper than what I paid for the 1997 reissue of Predaking MISB back when I had him ($300 dollars) from a second-hand collectible dealer here in town.

true but also don't forget that they moved production to areas with more cost effective facilities. Also keep in mind a place like BBTS is getting a wholesaler rate and are not paying full retail themselves.

Then you also have to factor in from Takaras end that the design work for this figure was all done 25yrs ago, so all they're doing is recasting. That all the R&D cost are neglegable if not negated.

With shipping this is going to be pushing $200, and sorry, the lines drawn, I won't pay it.

Hopefully that is the diecast version... The price is a bit steep if it wasnt...
