Why did Hasbro go with funky colors for G2 Transformers?

Recommended Posts

Is that Megs bigger than the Green one? Anyone have that green G2 megs and is willing to take a shot next to ROTF Megs?

I don't have them both out, but checking a review site G2 Megatron is 27 centimeters call, 2007 movie Leader Class is 25 centimeters tall. G2 Megatron is basically Leader class, and stands slightly taller than the 2007 toy.

So he is huge? Is he worth trackin down?

A lot of bad ideas put out back then. If they did it because they thought people would be more interested... HUGE FAIL! It is one of the things (along with overflooding the market with characters) that turned me off of TFers (even as a kid). I always thought they looked more like Happy-Meal toys.

Hmmm...it seems to me that the overflooding of Transformer characters didn't really start until the Beast Wars line by the incorporating of Japanese characters into US stores. I don't remember to much of G2, because I stopped paying attention to Transformers in 1987 and didn't resume again until 1997. Anyhow, The overflooding has gotten progressively worse as the past 10 years have gone by with the newer iterations of Transformer series. Fortunately, for G1 at least, each character released was an actual character in the cartoon.

I see the fact we get allot of characters and NONE SHOW characters as being a major advantage. It gives choice and allows some experimentation I mean without that we wouldn't have had the fantastic BM Buzzsaw and NightViper.

I just gotta agree with that last bit since I didn't read everything. I tend to like the nonshow figures better.

-without an animation modle to compair the design to, there's less of a need to knit pic detailes.

-without the echos of an episode in your head each time you pick up a figure, it's easier to give it your own personality and "life" so to speak.

I like the variety.

What I can't stand is in the movie line and even worse animated where all they did was give you the same characters, just in different sizes.

How the hell many Optimus Primes do you need anyway!?!

I absolutely agree with you on this!!!! It bugs me to no end that they waste countless figure opportunities this way!
