but the blue tracks was the variant not the yellow one. the yellow one is BT06 the blue one is BT06b plus the blue came out way later

The yellow one is the variant as compared to the Hasbro version.

And the blue one is still BT-06 according to the packaging. "BT-06b"was only used by some online stores.

And one thing about BT's: the paint flakes quite easily from the metal, at least my Dead End has paintless spots after a few transformations to robot & back to a car...

It doesn't flake on most people's BTs. Heck, most of my BTs don't even have any chpping on them.

I don't own any BTs, but I've heard that the newer alts aren't that far below BTs in terms of paint apps, and that Grimmy's may actually be better. Is this true?

My friend's BT Hound and Red-Meister have chipped in several places.

1. -- BT Hound fell off a shelf and bounced along the floor. It knocked two 1/4-inch and one large 1/2-inch spots on the hood.

2. -- BT Red-Meister has several small chips here and there, not too noticable unless you looks for them.

my BT's are fine only a little here and thier

The only BTs I am missing are the original BT Smokescreen (have BT-07, the later one) BT Tracks and BT Sideswipe and I absolutely LOVE them. I started w/ Alts (Smokes through Tracks) and I have replaced three of them w/ BTs, the paint jobs are way superior to the Alts and there is just a better feel to them w/ the diecast, feels more like old-school G1 like it is supposed to be.

Actually this thread made me just buy BT Sideswipe as well (saw a pretty decent deal earlier on eBay and have been thinking about it and this thread put me over the edge. I hope you are happy, I know I am).

Anyway, I very much recommend BTs over Alts if you can get them. I have never had any problems w/ paint chipping and they look phenonmenal compared to he Alts. There are more than enough differences to justify the extra money in my opinion.

Also, some more subtle differences like right-hand steering wheel for Streak, Meister and Overdrive, long gun barrel for Overdrive, magnetic connectors for Meister's steering mechanism, springs in Grimlock's feet, accurate black paint apps on Overdrive's front grille etc. for the Binaltech versions.

And let's not forget Japanese-only variants such as Smokescreen #7, yellow Tracks and red Meister or the Japanese-only release of Smokescreen GT...

The first US release of Silverstreak had the right side steering wheel. Infact I have the one with the right side steering wheel.

edit: just went to tfkenkon.. man i totally overlooked that... i think i should start collecting bt's again haha.. alts aren't doing it for me. i wonder how much different bt shockwave is going to be compared to his alt bro.. .maybe it would get the right hand drive treatment and his gun will light up!!!

Wow, it will? Have you heard this? In that case I must definately buy it.

Yes, I have both version, Alt and BT of some figures. The BTs are much superior in quality and looks. Another thing on BTs that some Alts don't have. The side mirrors all have a little reflective mirror. Thats a small detail but it pisses me off that some Alts don't have this.

I too only buy Alts when the BT versions are not available.
