New Additions to the Collection

Recommended Posts

see where as for me G1, Beast Wars, RID, Energon, and Animated Prowl are all different guys.

I don't let shared names bother me. Hell I tend to change them as I see fit, but saying in a whole planet theres only 1 Prowl would be like saying on Earth there's only one Bob, and all Bobs are the same Bob.

One thing I will say about collections though, is that when you buy a figure, it's yours to do whatever you want with. You can follow the stories to the letter or come up with your own. It doesn't matter.

Go light Optimus on fire and smack him with a hammer while calling him Boonkie.

Your figure, your world, your call :thumb

i had only started doing this myself when i was trying to round out the G1 roster, with that energon toy which was clearly wheeljack. i dont even remember his original name anymore. and then, the movie line comes and theres a bunch of G1 homages, and thrown in the mix was swerve, i didnt think he looked like swerve so i renamed him. heck, i bought a whole cybertron galaxy force leader prime to use as sentinel prime. the only downside to this is that i spend way too much money because its so fun to rework and create stories for the toys.

I'm an adult. I don't have time to waste creating continuities. They're just toys I put on display and fiddle with.

I love this statement.

If they're just display items for you thats fine, nothing wrong with that.

However if your collecting a childs plaything, theres also nothing wrong with taking the extra fun step and putting some imagination into it as well.

Think of it like this, you can have a cheeseburger wrapped in paper and handed out a window to you. Theres nothing wrong with it, it's a cheeseburger.

-or-

you can go to the store, get ground beef, or maybe pork or turkey. whatever seasonings you may like, and find the best bread they have. Go home dice up some pepper and onion, maybe even toss a habanjero in there for an extra kick and add a drop of locateli tomato sauce to the mix. Grill that up with sliced avacado resting on top of a nice portabello mushroom topped with colby and pepperjack cheese....

Both are cheeseburgers, one just happens to just go beyond the norm in a very good way.

Nothing childish about putting extra effort into what you enjoy :)
